Recent reports indicate those close to Pope Francis were overwhelmingly concerned that he would not find the strength to overcome his recent hospitalization.
Pope Francis’ condition deteriorated so quickly during his most recent hospitalization that doctors considered ending his treatment to let him die, according to reports.

Physicians mentioned a specific breathing crisis on Feb. 28, during which he nearly choked to death on his own vomit.
“There was a real risk he might not make it,” Sergio Alfieri, a doctor at Rome’s Gemelli hospital, told reporters.
As the pope was discharged from the hospital, doctors recommended two months of rest and limited contact with large groups.
