Good morning.

Congress is mounting its strongest challenge yet to President Trump’s Iran War, federal prosecutors have unveiled a sanctions-evasion case tied to Iran’s nuclear program, and investigators in Washington, D.C., are digging deeper into allegations that police officials manipulated crime statistics.

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to approve a war powers resolution to limit unauthorized American military involvement in Iran.

Sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York, the measure would require the White House.

PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEF (PDB) – The Space Force’s new “capstone” doctrine puts into action the two-year campaign to pivot from the service’s traditional mission of providing support to the rest of the military toward waging war “in, from and to space.”

“Space is a warfighting domain, not a collection of supporting activities. In conflict, space will be a contested environment. We are the military service dedicated to fighting in it.

We do not merely provide support functions — we also employ military force to achieve space superiority in order to ensure our freedom of maneuver,” Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman stresses in his forward to Space Force Doctrine Document 1 (SFDD-1), released today.

“It is our job to organize, train, and equip space forces, but we are also responsible for conducting warfighting operations in space,” he adds. “Guardians are, and always will be, warfighters.”

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here’s a roundup of today’s other top defense stories ending the week from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.

Not the President’s Daily Brief, but almost as good – PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEFING – the PDB:

NATIONAL SECURITY

Following the firing of Gen. Timothy Haugh, who led the NSA and US Cyber Command, lawmakers criticized the Trump administration, for the decision to let him go and for not providing a reason, saying it “sets back” U.S. military and intel operations, makes America “less safe.”

‘Golden Dome’: Who and what should it defend? In January Trump ordered DOD to develop the next-generation missile defense shield inspired by Israel’s Iron Dome.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will travel to Panama next week, the second senior US official to visit the country in as many months, as Trump says America is “reclaiming” the US-built canal.

Whether the Trump team ultimately bans TikTok, brokers a deal to find a new owner, or continues to punt on the issue, US officials must learn from TikTok’s protracted survival campaign—and protect Americans from the risky, foreign-owned apps of the future.

HOMELAND SECURITY

Federal judge in scathing decision calls Trump’s deportation of Salvadoran man ‘wholly lawless,’ saying the Trump team had no legal grounds to arrest, detain and deport a Salvadoran national to a prison in his home country.

The Trump administration has revoked the visas of all South Sudanese, saying the country’s government has failed to accept the return of its deported citizens “in a timely manner.”

The Canadian government is warning citizens visiting the US that US border officials have the authority to search travelers’ electronic devices – including phones, laptops, and tablets – without providing a reason.

POLITICS

Billionaire investor Bill Ackman, who endorsed Trump last year, is offering a stark warning about the tariff plans, calling for a timeout on the trade war, arguing they could cause the economy to collapse while hurting Trump supporters the most.

AGREED! Tuberville’s proposal for academy athletes to defer their active-duty commitments ‘go pro’ undermines duty.

PENTAGON WOKE WATCH

Air Force backtracks on Trump order banning personal pronouns from email signatures after recognizing that a law exists protecting the practice.

US POWER OVERSEAS

Glaring failures in drone attack in Jordan that killed three US soldiers in Jordan last year. The attack was most likely preventable, according to a military investigation that determined that numerous failures — from complacency and indecisiveness to outright negligence — contributed to the deadly attack.

The US Army has conducted its first live-fire training exercise using first-person view (FPV) drones carrying munitions, in Germany, under ‘Project Shiv.’

USS Carl Vinson sails through Malacca Strait, Friday as it makes its way to U.S. Central Command, as a Chinese carrier is operating in the South China Sea after Taiwan intimidation drills.

CHINA THREAT

Shenyang Aircraft Corporation’s tailless stealth fighter has appeared in new photos that offer additional insights into its exotic design. Unofficially dubbed the ‘J-50,’ it is one of two Chinese tailless heavy next-generation fighter designs that emerged in December.

Cambodia’s leader presides at ceremony for the opening of an expansion of his country’s main naval base, which will likely be used as a strategic outpost by China.

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

A cockpit video has emerged showing a very close encounter between a Russian Su-35 Flanker-E and an Alaska-based US Air Force F-35A Joint Strike Fighter. A variant of the Russian Tu-95 Bear bomber is also seen in the footage.

UK ‘must prepare for war.’ In a stark interview, a former MI6 urged UK to rearm, rebuild its military-industrial base, and integrate defense more deeply into public life in response to mounting threats from Russia.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy met the leaders of the UK and French armed forces in Kyiv to discuss the potential deployment of a multinational force to Ukraine, despite Trump’s reluctance to provide US security guarantees.

Satellite imagery shows work on the first of Russia’s big-deck amphibious assault ships, also known as the Ivan Rogov class, is continuing at a shipyard on the occupied Crimean Peninsula. Ukrainian forces have targeted the Zaliv yard in the past, severely damaging at least one warship.

Inspired by the success of fiber optic cables on first-person view (FPV) drones, Ukraine is beginning to test them on uncrewed ground vehicles (UGV).

Thousands of Ukrainian civilians are still held by Russia with uncertain hope of release.

IRAN THREAT/MIDEAST

The US has used B-2A Spirit stealth bombers to attack Houthi targets in Yemen during the campaign that began March 15 with aviation and missile strikes against the Iranian-backed group.

A bombing video posted by Trump suggested casualties in the overall campaign of US airstrikes over the weekend targeting Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen may be higher than the terrorist admit.

US MILITARY

Marine Corps stands up ‘attack drone team’ to take lessons from Ukraine and teach them to grunts to ensure Marine rifle squads have the technology and tactics to find and destroy enemies up to 12 miles away.

AC-130J Ghostrider gunship launches Black Arrow (Small Cruise Missile) in new video. The Black Arrow, intended to carry a range of different payloads, and not just a kinetic warhead, arrives as DOD is looking at lower-cost weapons that can be readily produced at scale need in future conflicts.

The Navy needs a high/low mix of manned and unmanned platforms. The Navy will always need larger ships, and that an “all or nothing” approach relying only on unmanned vessels simply won’t work.

Anduril Industries unveiled a new family of autonomous underwater vehicles called Copperhead, designed to meet military and commercial needs for larger fleets of uncrewed maritime vessels.
