Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEF (PDB) – US nuke forces need to get bigger and better fast. Russia is threatening nuclear strikes on the West for its support to Ukraine. China is the fastest growing nuclear power on the planet. North Korea continues to expand and advance its nuclear and missile programs. And there is Iran’s nuclear weapon program.

Meanwhile, the U.S. is modernizing its strategic deterrent at a glacial pace.

And that U.S. nuke modernization program was established 15 years ago, prior to Moscow’s and Beijing’s manifest expansionism and related nuclear war fighting focus became obvious. Largely unchanged since its establishment, it is now insufficient to deter adversary theater nuclear employment.

While the U.S. is focused on modernizing an arsenal that is designed to deter strategic attack, America’s adversaries are quietly fielding and expanding nuclear arsenals that are not only designed to deter a strategic attack on their homelands but also are optimized for nuclear warfighting.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here’s a roundup of today’s other top defense stories ending the week from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.

The FAA released videos of its testing of drone-detecting technologies, underway in New Jersey. The agency said the tests are not related to the wave of drone incursions over the state last year, but the results could help improve situational awareness of unmanned aircraft.

NORTH KOREA THREAT

B-1Bs from Texas, flew over South Korea alongside US and Korean fighters, adding to the already robust USAF bomber presence in the Indo-Pacific.

Hamas is said to have rejected an Israeli proposal for a six-week ceasefire in Gaza which called for the terror group to give up its weapons.

SPACE THREAT

The Navy is touting the US-Australian MQ-28 Ghost Bat ‘loyal wingman’ drone as a model for future industrial partnerships, while confirming its interest in the drone.

It’s time to fully fund the Air Force’s collaborative combat aircraft. Chronic underfunding and high combat demand have worn its aircraft so hard that the capability of the Air Force has declined to dangerous levels.

The Coast Guard is seeking information from industry — at home and abroad — about its ability to build medium-sized icebreakers under a 36-month timeline from contract award to launching the ship.
