A high school teacher in Maine called for the assassination of U.S. President Trump and his supporters.
In a post on Facebook, Waterville Senior High School English teacher JoAnna St. Germain encouraged the Secret Service to “take out” Trump and “every single person who supports Trump’s illegal, immoral, unconstitutional acts.”
Although St. Germain denied she was calling for a president’s assassination – because she claims Trump “shamelessly bragged openly about stealing the election” – St. Germain said she would kill the president and his “sycophants” herself if she had the “skill set.”
St. Germain is unrepentant and unapologetic, writing in other Facebook posts, “I’m not sorry. I’m not backtracking. I said what I said and I meant it” and “To be clear, publicly: I knew what I was doing when I did it. I’m not the least f–king sorry.”
Reports claim the Secret Service is aware of these threats.
Waterville Public Schools Superintendent Peter Hallen reportedly told parents, “Please know that I have taken steps to ensure everyone’s safety and am, along with the appropriate authorities, actively investigating the incident.”
St. Germain posted her screed knowing she’d likely lose her job. In one post, she explicitly wrote, “I posted knowing I’d likely lose my job and benefits.” It’s time to make that a reality.
If you believe radical teachers should not be in the classroom, molding the minds of impressionable students, take action here by letting the Waterville school board and superintendent know that unless they hold St. Germain accountable, they are complicit.
