Biden Medical Exam Results Prompt Renewed Health Concerns

Concerns over Joe Biden’s health are once again in the spotlight after the former president’s office confirmed that a recent medical exam uncovered a “small nodule” on his prostate, prompting additional evaluation.

“In a routine physical exam a small nodule was found in the prostate which necessitated further evaluation,” a Biden spokesperson told The Hill’s sister network NewsNation. The spokesperson did not elaborate further. 

Biden, 82, spent time Friday in a Philadelphia hospital, according to The New York Times, which first reported on the news. 

In 2023, Biden had a basal cell carcinoma—essentially a form of skin cancer—removed from his chest. While common and usually treatable, it added to a growing list of health-related developments that critics say were either downplayed or slow-walked by the White House.

This is not the first time Biden’s health has been a topic of concern. During his presidency, his advanced age, frequent verbal stumbles, and low-energy public appearances led many—even within his own party—to privately question his ability to serve a full term, let alone campaign for a second. Public concern reached a boiling point earlier this year, culminating in his decision to end his 2024 re-election bid in July—a move many saw as long overdue.
