A Secret Service whistleblower has reportedly come forward with an explosive allegation that former President Joe Biden displayed such severe cognitive decline during his time in office that he would routinely “get lost in his closet” at the White House—raising fresh questions about who was actually in charge during his presidency.
The claim, disclosed by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Friday, is being described by critics as yet another example of what they say was a deliberate and far-reaching effort to conceal Biden’s deteriorating mental fitness from the American people.
“This Secret Service whistleblower actually was assigned to Biden,” Hawley said. “He told me that Biden used to get lost in his closet in the mornings at the White House.”
“I mean, the guy literally stumbling around in the White House residence couldn’t find his way out of his own closet,” Hawley added. “The president of the United States. This is outrageous. We were lied to.”
Hawley’s revelation comes at a time when Biden’s cognitive condition is already under intense scrutiny. Multiple congressional investigations are currently probing the former president’s mental and physical health, with particular focus on whether key decisions were made on his behalf by unelected staffers and aides.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) is investigating whether presidential orders and pardons were rubber-stamped via autopen by Biden’s subordinates—possibly without his knowledge or consent. Comer has also called for testimony from Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the Biden White House physician, citing concerns that public statements about the president’s health may have been deliberately misleading.
More fuel was added to the fire earlier this month when Biden publicly revealed he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, raising questions about whether this diagnosis—and its possible effects on his faculties—had been hidden while he was still in office.
“The question is: Who is in charge? Whose finger is on the nuclear button or has the nuclear codes? Who can declare war?” Senator John Cornyn (Texas) asked. “How do we defend the nation when we have basically an absent president?”
The implications are vast. If the whistleblower’s account is accurate, and the president was incapable of basic functioning in private while still publicly declared fit to serve, it would mark one of the most significant breakdowns of governmental transparency in American history.
“The American people could see Biden’s decline,” Hawley said. “But they were systematically lied to by the Biden White House and by the media. Now we’ve got to get the facts. This is a huge stain on our country. It’s amazing we survived it, to be honest with you.”
