Data and studies on gun crime analyzed by one of the nation’s most-respected mainstream polling firms finds not only are so-called “assault rifles” rarely used in violence, the United States isn’t even close to having the world’s highest gun homicide rate.
That may be why the latest Pew Research Center analysis of data from the Centers for Disease Control, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other sources is being ignored by the mainstream media.
Pew’s analysis finds that despite claims by the media and political establishment of an “epidemic” of murders by gun owners, only 38% of deaths by firearms were murders, with 58% of gun deaths being suicides and the remainder being accidents, defensive uses by police, or undetermined causes.
Pew also found the rate of murders with a gun has been steadily dropping as states loosen gun laws, such as adopting constitutional carry.
“The decline in the gun death rate since 2021 is mostly due to a decrease in the rate of gun murders. There were 5.6 gun murders per 100,000 people in 2023. That was down from 6.2 per 100,000 in 2022 and 6.7 per 100,000 in 2021. The gun murder rate peaked at 7.2 per 100,000 in 1974,” Pew reports.
Pew also debunked liberal claims that gun murders “only happen here.”
Pew finds the United States’ gun death rate “is still far below the rates in several Latin American countries, according to a 2018 study of 195 countries and territories by researchers at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.”
The U.S. gun death rate “was much lower than in El Salvador (39.2 per 100,000 people), Venezuela (38.7), Guatemala (32.3), Colombia (25.9) and Honduras (22.5). Overall, the U.S. ranked 20th in its gun fatality rate that year, the study found.”
However, taking out suicides and justified defensive uses, which are included in “gun deaths” reveals the U.S. now ranks even lower worldwide in gun violence.
“When it comes to the number of gun-related homicides, the U.S. ranks 30th worldwide,” the study finds.
Pew also finds FBI data debunk the liberal myth that so-called “assault rifles” are the “weapon of choice” in crimes.
“Rifles – the category that includes guns sometimes referred to as “assault weapons” – were involved in 4% of firearm murders,” Pew writes.
“In 2023, the most recent year for which the FBI has published data, handguns were involved in 53% of the 13,529 U.S. gun murders and non-negligent manslaughters for which data is available,” Pews writes, adding “Shotguns were involved in 1%. The remainder of gun homicides and non-negligent manslaughters (42%) involved other kinds of firearms or those classified as ‘type not stated.’”

Truth is a beautiful thing !
What’s amazing is those same statistics after REMOVING gun murders in the 5 largest Democratic-run (strictest gun control) cities !
Instead of 30th worldwide, the uUS then comes in 109th ! ! ! ! So what does THAT tell you?
Don’t try to confuse liberal dem wits with facts. It hurts their feelings, which will never change.
