Elon Musk is turning up the heat on Republicans who campaigned on fiscal restraint but voted for the Trump administration’s sweeping tax-and-spending package, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (OBBBA). The billionaire CEO says he’s committed to ensuring they face dire political consequences in next year’s midterms.
“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame,” Musk posted on X. “And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”

And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.
Musk’s criticism is primarily two-fold: he opposes the bill’s projected $3.94 trillion increase to the national debt over the next decade — according to the latest Congressional Budget Office (CBO) score — and he objects to its elimination of electric vehicle subsidies, a move that could directly impact his companies, Tesla and SpaceX.
In a series of posts on X, Musk called the bill a “disgusting abomination” and warned that Republicans who support it would face imminent defeat. He also shared an image of Pinocchio engulfed in flames, captioned: “LIAR Voted to increase America’s DEBT by 5,000,000,000.00” — presumably a typo, as Musk likely meant five trillion, not five billion.

“PORKY PIG PARTY” vs. “America First”
Musk — who just months ago served as the unofficial head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — may be gearing up for another political play. Insiders say he’s eyeing a fresh round of spending through his powerful super PAC, America PAC, which shelled out $240 million last year, nearly all of it to boost President Donald Trump.
He’s also floated the idea of launching a new political faction — the America Party — which he frames as a leaner, more accountable alternative to what he now derides as the “PORKY PIG PARTY” establishment.
The world’s richest man also took aim at House Freedom Caucus Reps. Andy Harris (R-Md.) and Chip Roy (R-Texas), according to The Hill:
“How can you call yourself the Freedom Caucus if you vote for a DEBT SLAVERY bill with the biggest debt ceiling increase in history?” he asked, tagging the two lawmakers.

Ever since Musk departed the White House, the Tesla CEO has been a vocal critic of Trump’s tax and spending bill, which looks to make the 2017 tax cuts permanent, among other priorities, and has been projected to add trillions of dollars to the deficit, according to multiple analyses.
In an X post on Saturday, Musk derided the bill as “utterly insane and destructive,” saying that the latest version from the Senate “will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!”
Musk’s latest post comes just weeks after the Tesla CEO and Trump had a public falling out, with the two drawing personal barbs. Musk said he later regretted some of his social media posts, saying “they went too far.”
Musk’s ongoing dissent has sparked concern among Republican lawmakers, some of whom are working behind the scenes to contain the fallout. Earlier this month — prior to Musk’s brief détente with President Trump — House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) voiced his disappointment with the businessman and former senior White House adviser, stating, “My friend Elon is terribly wrong about the one big beautiful bill.”
Bill Moves to Senate as GOP Faces Fractures
The House has already passed the OBBBA, and the Senate is expected to vote before July 4. Despite criticism from Musk and a handful of other fiscal hawks in Congress, Trump and his allies remain committed to getting it signed into law.
Vice President JD Vance was dispatched to Capitol Hill Tuesday morning to rally Republican senators behind the measure, as leadership aims to quell resistance and get the bill to the president’s desk as soon as possible.

Musk is angry because Trump’s BBB dropped the incentives for electric cars
Senate GOP chairman& leader if the reports are true about him personally eliminating the proposed law that stopped illegals from medical benefits should be replaced ASAP, and investigated for being paid to do so by insurance groups to which he belongs. His first job must be to the American taxpayers and voters, regardless of party and if he is making over 1 million from the insurance group then he shouldn’t be or have any power in the GOP leadership.
I am a conservative and consider myself to be a Trump supporter/voter and parts of this BBB should be deleted by house members upon its return from senate. In other words do the damn thing properly.
