Chinese Military Rushing To Dominate Space, Defeat US

PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEF (PDB) — China is practicing orbital warfare to win in space. When Xi came to power, he assessed what CCP’s military would need to fight and win future war: long range fires, dominance in the information domain and controlling the “new strategic high ground” — space.

Xi believes the U.S. is dependent on space for modern warfighting and sees this as a weak point in America’s ability to protect its allies, partners and interests in the Indo-Pacific region.

He has directed the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to develop ways to match all of the American strengths in space and to take advantage of its weakness, exploit vulnerabilities and develop the tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) to defeat the American alliance in space.

And China is well-positioned to pull it off.

Xi has directed the PLA to be ready to fight and win a war in space if and when the time comes, and the PLA is carrying out plans to make that happen. China has been conducting operations in space that are aimed at achieving that goal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told President Trump he was nominating him for a Nobel Peace Prize as the two took a victory lap to hail their recent joint strikes on Iran ‘s nuclear facilities.

Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to combat an orchestrated social media campaign of “vilification and demonization” that he says is responsible for a drop in support for Israel among U.S. voters, especially Democrats.

A look at the wish lists for CENTCOM, NORTHCOM, SOUTHCOM, INDOPACOM and STRATCOM. Five US combatant commands have requested $13.15 billion in total in their annual Unfunded Priority Lists.

US POWER OVERSEAS

Army has expanded eligibility for earning combat patches to soldiers deployed across 14 countries in the Middle East and Africa, a shift that comes as attacks from Iran and its sanctioned militias have hit bases far from active fighting.

British, U.S. and Finnish jets train near Russian border during Atlantic Trident 25, a two-week multinational exercise focused on high-end air combat training, interoperability, and rapid deployment in contested environments.

Latest Sea Breeze exercise focuses on mines in the Black Sea. For the third year in a row, the U.S. and partner nations, including Ukraine, have their eyes on how to deal with the thousands of mines in the region.

Denmark to rent air defenses as it rushes to rebuild missile shield, opting to procure three different types of ground-based air defense systems from German, French, and Norwegian manufacturers as the country seeks to urgently fill critical air defense gaps.

SPACE THREAT

Risks seen in space agency’s go-fast approach. Space Development Agency’s focus on rapid satellite delivery may expose the office to “undetected or misunderstood risks.”

Space Force rolled out its first International Partnership Strategy, a blueprint for how it intends to transition from sporadic global cooperation to a more deliberate and integrated space coalition with trusted allies.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

Canadian Armed Forces members plotted to create ‘anti-government militia.‘ Four men, including two active military members, are facing charges in Canada over an alleged plot to “forcibly” seize land in Quebec.

UK has signaled that further purchases of the F-35A stealth fighter remain under consideration, following confirmation that an initial batch of 12 aircraft will be drawn from existing F-35B procurement plans.

Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) established its first dedicated space unit.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for two senior Taliban leaders, accusing them of crimes against humanity for the persecution of women and girls.

US MILITARY

An unknown containerized launcher able to fire the same suite of artillery rockets and ballistic missiles as the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) seen at Fort Bragg earlier this year has been identified. Army’s top general in the Indo-Pacific has highlighted the “boxes of rockets” hiding in plain sight as part of a broader strategy that “gives our adversary pause.”

Army aims to quadruple Patriot missile procurement in the 2026 budget request, as the service drives to increase its “magazine depth” for various munitions.

Army will look for false accusations, consider ‘credibility’ in misconduct cases like toxic leadership or hazing. The updated rules also stop the flagging of an accused soldier’s personnel record in advance of an investigation and introduce punishments for soldiers proven to have made false accusations.

Army has realized that horses are no longer good for ‘warfighting’ and is drastically scaling back its Military Working Equid program, the Army term for the service’s contingent of horses, donkeys and mules.
