Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent acknowledged Wednesday that he threatened to “kick ass” during a heated confrontation last year, while firmly denying reports that he threatened to punch the now-acting Director of National Intelligence “in the face.”

The unusual exchange emerged during a Senate Finance Committee hearing, where Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) pressed Bessent about reports surrounding a confrontation between the two Trump administration officials during the summer of 2025.

According to Bessent, one key detail in the widely circulated account was inaccurate.

While he denied threatening.

As new docs expose Epstein’s cozy FBI relationship…

WASHINGTON — Former FBI Director and Special Counsel Robert Mueller has been subpoenaed by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) as part of the expanding investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking scandal. But the aging lawman’s capacity to testify is now in question.

According to sources with direct knowledge who spoke to RealClearInvestigations reporter Paul Sperry, Mueller has been living in a memory care facility for some time. The revelation casts serious doubt on his ability to meaningfully participate in a Sept. 2 deposition scheduled by the committee.

Mueller, who served as FBI director from 2001 to 2013, oversaw the bureau during its early investigations into Jeffrey Epstein. He later led the controversial 2017–2019 probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election — a case criticized by the 2023 Durham Report for investigative bias and for ignoring leads that, even then, suggested the Clinton campaign may have fabricated ties between Donald Trump and Russia.

Mueller’s reported decline is reminiscent of his halting performance during his 2019 congressional testimony — less than two months after he resigned as special counsel — which prompted widespread speculation about his mental acuity at the time.

FBI Files Confirm Epstein Was a Federal Source

The committee’s interest in Mueller stems from a long-buried FBI investigation into Epstein. Recently released documents — obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit — confirm that Epstein served as an FBI informant years before his widely criticized 2007 plea deal.

One 2008 FBI memo, dated Sept. 9, explicitly states: “Epstein has also provided information to the FBI as agreed upon.” The memo further notes that “no federal prosecution will occur in this matter as long as Epstein continues to uphold his agreement with the State of Florida.”

That agreement, brokered by then-U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta, allowed Epstein to avoid federal charges despite evidence of sex trafficking across state lines. Instead, he pleaded guilty to lesser state charges and served a 13-month sentence with generous work-release privileges.

Sources familiar with the case say the newly surfaced records show Epstein’s cooperation began well before 2007. “These are the smoking gun documents,” one insider told Radar. Another described Epstein as “a puppet, informant, and spy for the FBI.”

Intelligence Ties and the Question of Protection

Acosta, who later served as Labor Secretary under President Trump before resigning amid renewed scrutiny over the plea deal, once claimed he was told to “leave it alone” because Epstein “belonged to intelligence.” The newly released files lend credibility to that assertion.

Critics have long pointed to the unusually lenient non-prosecution agreement — which also shielded alleged co-conspirators — as evidence of federal interference. Among those granted immunity were four of Epstein’s close aides: Sarah Kellen, Adriana Ross, Lesley Groff, and Nadia Marcinkova.

“You don’t give this kind of deal to a man like Epstein unless you’re getting something big in return,” a legal source told Radar.

Another source added: “The real reason the FBI has been stonewalling for years is because these files blow up the official story. Epstein wasn’t just evading justice — he was helping them.”

High-Profile Ties Raise More Questions

At various points in his life, Epstein’s social circle included President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and former CIA Director William Burns.

While no public evidence directly implicates these individuals, the depth of Epstein’s ties to intelligence agencies has renewed scrutiny of whether powerful figures received protection in exchange for his cooperation.

The FBI continues to withhold the full cache of Epstein-related files, citing ongoing law enforcement exemptions. But the information already released has reignited public debate over whether the government enabled Epstein rather than stopping him.

“The public deserves to know what he was trading for that protection — and who else was involved,” said a source close to the FOIA litigation. “Epstein wasn’t just protected by power. He may have been an instrument of it.”

Wider Net Cast as Comer Subpoenas Dozens

Mueller is just one of several high-profile individuals subpoenaed by the Oversight Committee. Others include Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former Attorneys General Merrick Garland, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, and Alberto Gonzales.

The panel also subpoenaed Mueller’s former colleague and successor, former FBI Director James Comey.

Supporters remain hopeful the subpoenas are part of a sweeping effort to expose an egregious failure of justice. The probe focuses on how federal agencies handled Epstein and his network of associates.

Epstein died in federal custody in 2019. His longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, is serving a 20-year sentence for conspiring with Epstein to abuse minors.

DOJ Weighs Release of Maxwell Transcript

Parallel to the committee’s efforts, developments inside the Justice Department suggest that Attorney General Pam Bondi is considering releasing a redacted transcript of a recent interrogation of Maxwell.

Shortly after meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, Maxwell was quietly transferred from FCI Tallahassee to a minimum-security federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed the relocation but offered no explanation.

“They asked about every possible thing you could imagine — everything,” said Maxwell attorney David Oscar Markus.

According to sources, Maxwell named nearly 100 individuals during her two-day questioning. Audio exists, but only a written transcript is being considered for release. Maxwell’s attorneys oppose publication, arguing it could jeopardize a possible retrial if her conviction is overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Testimonies Scheduled Into Fall

The committee’s schedule is taking shape. Barr is set to testify on Aug. 18, followed by Gonzales on Aug. 28. Hillary Clinton is scheduled for Oct. 9, with Bill Clinton to follow on Oct. 14.

Neither the Department of Justice nor the Clintons have issued public responses to the subpoenas.

The investigation has reignited long-standing questions: Was Epstein merely a degenerate criminal who gamed the system to prey on the vulnerable — or a protected asset operating with impunity in plain sight?

Unfortunately, Mueller — once a central figure in federal law enforcement — may be too mentally compromised to offer meaningful insight.

i guess BRAIN ROT does NOT DESCRIMINATE among the rich and poor; Only difference is that the rich who have made OODLES exploring a MYTH can afford “private” facilities, whereas the poor man is the experiment of the government at all levels.
Muller cost taxpayers approximately $50 MILLION to “investigate” what taxpayers KNEW was a HOAX, so he can afford the best quarters money can buy. it’s too bad that money can’t buy back your MIND

This is almost too much to take in…..Why does no one talk to Jeffery’s lawyer Alan Dershowitz and get him to explain this ‘deal’ with the Deep State that left Epstein untouched. Dem’s are starting to eliminate witnesses and I don’t trust any of those names on the list to be at their depositions. Nothing warrants doing harm to children, so what could they be hiding other than the subhuman levels of depravity that people in power are wallowing in. Praying for the truth to light up the darkness and God’s will be done.
