Rhode Island Dem Caught On Bodycam In Drunken Arrest, Screams ‘I’m An AG’ 11 Times

Another embarrassing law enforcement encounter for Democrats is making the rounds — this time in Rhode Island.

Bodycam footage released from the Newport Police Department shows Devon Hogan Flanagan, a special assistant attorney general, being arrested on Aug. 14 after refusing to leave a restaurant. Flanagan repeatedly invoked her government title during the incident, captured in a now-viral video.

Visibly intoxicated, Flanagan resisted officers’ instructions and shouted, “I’m an AG!” no fewer than 11 times — prompting one officer to reply bluntly, “Good for you, I don’t give a sh*t.” (RELATED: [WATCH] Dem Caught On Police Video In Underwear Meltdown)

A 12th attempt was cut short as an officer shut the cruiser door mid-sentence.

Before the door closed, Flanagan warned, “Buddy, you’re gonna regret this,” after unsuccessfully trying to get the officers to turn off their cameras.

Flanagan wasn’t alone. Her friend, Veronica Hannan, turned physically aggressive. Footage shows Hannan slipping out of her handcuffs before kicking, screaming, and even growling and hissing at officers as she resisted arrest in full view of a crowd.

Reminder: It all began with a simple request to leave a restaurant.

The New York Post continues:

Timothy Rondeau, a spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office, told the Boston Globe on Monday that Flanagan’s request for cops to cut the cameras does not reflect statewide policy and only applies to victims and witnesses of crimes.

When a member of the public objects to being recorded on a bodycam, an officer “may determine whether to proceed with recording,” according to the Newport Police Department’s policy, which also notes consent is not necessary to record, the outlet said.

Flanagan “was immediately uncooperative, questioning our authority and demanding I turn my body camera off,” an officer wrote in a police report obtained by the outlet.

The state Attorney General’s Office immediately launched a review of the incident, according to the publication.

As of this writing, Flanagan remains employed as a special assistant attorney general in the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office, where she has served for seven years in the Criminal Division’s Appellate Unit.
