Two children, ages 8 and 10, were killed as they sat in the pews, and 17 others were wounded Wednesday in a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, which serves students through eighth grade.
Authorities said 14 of the 17 wounded are children.
The Wall Street Journal reports:
“We believe it is one suspect, a sole shooter,” and he shot himself in “the rear of the church,” O’Hara said. He is in his early 20s and doesn’t have an extensive known criminal history,” O’Hara said.
“There were dozens of children inside the mass at the time,” he said.

A mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis left at least two people dead and multiple others injured Wednesday morning, according to preliminary reports.
Casualty details remain unconfirmed. Local officials have not released specifics regarding injuries or fatalities at the time of this article’s publication.
The gunfire erupted around 8:30 a.m. local time. Students had returned on Monday, and a school-wide Mass was scheduled just before the shooting. Emergency responders rushed victims to nearby hospitals.
The tragedy comes less than 24 hours after another mass shooting across the street from another Catholic high school in Minneapolis. A gunman fired approximately 30 shots, killing one person and injuring six others.
Gov. Tim Walz said he had been briefed and called the incident “horrific.” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey activated the city’s emergency response and was on the scene.
As CNN reports:
“There is no active threat to the community at this time,” the city of Minneapolis said in a post on X. “The shooter is contained.”
Walz had earlier said he’d been “briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and will continue to provide updates as we get more information.” The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the State Patrol are on the scene, the governor added.
“I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence,” the governor said.
President Donald Trump issued a statement on the incident, praising the FBI’s swift response and urging prayers for those affected — underscoring the gravity of the tragedy and the high-level attention it has drawn.

TWO… Any person, student or not on school property involved in ANY ACT, resulting in the DEATH of another student will be receive a life Sentence. But NOT the life sentence we have today. They will be placed in an underground dirt cell in complete DARKNESS, one whatever meal a day, a small hand shovel to dig the dirt for a toilet and the only sound they will hear is the screaming and crying of the other arrogant and incompetent killers and their parents. This includes every person in jail today who has killed another student. Jesus said, we should not kill and forgive others. I believe in Jesus Christ, and I know what is waiting for the created human beings who have no respect or belief in Jesus. I believe Our Lord Jesus Christ would agree to anything other than DEATH by HUMANS to STOP the taking of his created Life on Earth. The behavior of children today, NOT ALL, but about 82% is arrogant and disrespectful. As they age, it gets worse. As a Parent and a Taxpayer today, we must NOT ASK, but TELL the politicians, judges state and federal including the supreme court we want CHANGES IMMEDIANTLY, and we WILL NOT accept anything less.
