Antifa is real. It is not an idea, it is not a myth, and it is not a loose scattering of misguided young protesters play-acting in the streets. It is a decentralized yet coordinated international terror network with a long history of violence, ranging from arsons and assassinations in U.S. cities to coordinated riots in Hamburg, Toronto, and Athens. The refusal of Democratic politicians and their media allies to acknowledge this reality is one of the more laughable and dangerous episodes in modern political history. It is as though Jerry Nadler and Joe Biden thought they could wish antifa away by declaring it an “idea.” Antifa’s victims know otherwise. Families of police officers assaulted with firebombs know otherwise. The shopkeepers in Portland whose livelihoods went up in flames during 127 consecutive nights of Antifa riots know otherwise. And yet, the Democratic Party chose to sneer, shrug, and dismiss it all as a right-wing fantasy.
Democrat Congressman Jerry Nadler:

Antifa is a "myth."
You can't make this up.

Consider Nadler’s now-infamous quip that antifa was “a myth being spread only in Washington D.C.” At the very moment he said those words, antifa militants in Portland were waging nightly battles with federal officers, hurling commercial-grade fireworks at courthouses and torching precincts. Biden’s declaration that “antifa is an idea, not an organization” was not merely a gaffe, it was an insult to the men and women terrorized by its operatives. When Nancy Pelosi briefly condemned antifa violence when she was speaker, she was treated as though she had broken ranks. Meanwhile, former CNN anchors like Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon bent over backward to justify or excuse antifa’s violence. Cuomo told viewers that “all punches are not equal morally,” and Lemon reminded his audience that antifa means “anti-fascism,” as though the name itself exonerated Molotov cocktails and stabbings.

The facts on the ground tell a different story. Since 2015, antifa has left a bloody trail. Riots in Sacramento left people stabbed. Berkeley descended into fire and chaos to block a speech. Trump’s inauguration in 2017 saw black bloc militants torch cars and smash windows in the nation’s capital. In Portland, the beating of journalist Andy Ngo and the murder of a Trump supporter by antifa militant Michael Reinoehl revealed the stakes. In Tacoma, an antifa extremist attacked an ICE facility with firebombs and a rifle. In Atlanta, antifa cells launched a terror campaign against the “Cop City” project, torching construction equipment and facing domestic terrorism charges. In 2025, antifa operatives in North Texas ambushed an ICE facility in Alvarado, firing rifle rounds and attempting mass murder. In each case, the pattern is unmistakable: encrypted communication, coordinated travel, prepared weaponry, and ideological fervor.

Internationally, the evidence is even more damning. Hamburg’s 2017 G20 summit descended into urban warfare as thousands of antifa-aligned rioters injured over 320 police officers and torched cars. German courts later uncovered structured antifa gangs that carried out targeted beatings with hammers and bats, drawing explicit comparisons to the Red Army Faction. In Toronto in 2010, antifa-style militants rioted during the G20, torching police cars and causing millions in damages in one of the largest riots in Canadian history. In Greece, antifa-aligned anarchists staged riots that turned Athens into a battlefield. In Brazil, Australia, and the U.K., antifa cells confronted, often violently, their far-right adversaries. These are not the marks of “an idea.” These are the fingerprints of a transnational terror movement.
Nor can the funding question be shrugged away. While antifa cells pride themselves on being “grassroots,” they have consistently drawn support from far-left NGOs and activist networks. Bail funds flush with donations from Democratic donors, including former presidential hopeful Kamala Harris, and sympathetic nonprofits ensure that rioters walk free almost as soon as they are booked. Crowdfunding sites and activist NGOs launder money into “legal defense funds” that in practice subsidize antifa’s operations. Punk rock fundraisers and local t-shirt sales do not buy rifles, tactical gear, and out-of-state travel. The infrastructure of far-left NGOs functions as antifa’s unofficial financial arm, even if they avoid putting the name on the check.
While Kamala Harris was promoting bail funds to free rioters who attacked police and burned buildings during the George Floyd riots, she was actively supporting the Defund the Police movement.

The legal system’s treatment of antifa only compounds the problem. Over 10,000 arrests during 2020’s riots resulted in mass dismissals of charges. Washington, D.C., prosecutors dropped virtually every case from the Inauguration Day riots. In Portland, nearly 70% of protest-related arrests were tossed. Federal prosecutors dropped serious felony charges, including assaults on officers. This revolving door of leniency sends the unmistakable message that left-wing violence will be tolerated, even rewarded. In contrast, conservatives who so much as trespassed at the Capitol faced years in prison. The double standard is grotesque, and it emboldens antifa cells to continue their violence.
ANTIFA: Portland is finally cracking down on Antifa. Isabel Araujo a notorious transgender Antifa militant was found guilty of assault and sentenced to a full day of community service.

One striking development is the emergence of “trantifa,” transgender antifa militants who have been at the core of some of the most violent recent cells. In Dallas in 2025, FBI SWAT teams raided a house full of armed transgender antifa activists preparing for armed attacks on ICE facilities. A Seattle eviction in 2023 ended in a shootout with a transgender antifa supporter who wounded a deputy. These are not isolated misfits but committed extremists operating within antifa’s orbit. Their presence underscores the extent to which Antifa serves as a magnet for radical ideologues of every fringe identity, united only by their hatred of America and law enforcement.
What is at stake is not semantic. To call antifa a myth is to blind oneself to a very real and dangerous movement. To call it an idea is to pretend that ideas set fire to courthouses and ambush ICE facilities. Antifa is a terror network. It is decentralized, yes, but so was al-Qaeda. The fact that antifa does not have a national headquarters or formal membership cards does not absolve it of the blood already on its hands. By any reasonable standard, planned violence, interstate coordination, international solidarity, NGO financing, ideological indoctrination, antifa qualifies as an international terror organization.
Democrats and their media stenographers may cling to their denials, but reality is not obliged to respect their narratives. The shopkeeper in Portland whose business was torched, the ICE agent ambushed in Texas, the German police officer bloodied in Hamburg, they do not have the luxury of indulging CNN talking points. For them, antifa is not a myth or an idea. It is a terror movement, real, organized, and deadly. The sooner the American people wake up to that reality, the safer this country will be.
