Zach Bryan, a country music singer who has largely avoided political proclamations, has surprised fans and critics alike by releasing a new song that slams President Donald Trump’s immigration policies and criticizes U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The track, titled “Bad News,” is a stark departure from Bryan’s usual poetic storytelling and personal ballads, diving headfirst into one of the most divisive political issues in America: illegal immigration.
The song begins with Bryan’s familiar gruff, “rough around the edges” vocals.
“Didn’t wake up dead or in jail / Some out of town boys been giving us hell… I heard the cops came / Cocky motherf***er ain’t they?”
Later in the song, Bryan shifts from personal frustration to political commentary, directly targeting ICE and lamenting what he portrays as the erosion of the American spirit.
“And ICE is gonna come, bust down your door / Try to build a house no one builds no more… The middle fingers rising and it won’t stop showing / I got some bad news / The fading of the red, white and blue.”
Bryan posted a YouTube teaser for the track over the weekend, fueling debate across social media about his sudden turn into political territory.
The song marks a significant shift in tone for Bryan, who in the past has expressed support for law enforcement — even following a September 2023 arrest in Oklahoma for obstruction during a traffic stop.
At the time, Bryan acknowledged he was “out of line,” apologized publicly, and went on to praise law enforcement, notably honoring fallen NYPD officer Jonathan Diller.
But now, Bryan’s new lyrics — describing law enforcement officers as “cocky motherf***kers” and ICE agents as terrifying children by breaking into homes — suggest a growing disillusionment with authority, particularly under Trump’s second term.
Bryan’s new song is sure to stir controversy within the country music community, where many fans lean conservative and have generally supported stricter immigration enforcement.
While the 28-year-old singer-songwriter has built a substantial fanbase, his entry into the immigration debate is likely to alienate a significant portion of his audience.
Some conservative commentators on social media have already begun labeling Bryan “woke,” while progressive fans and activists are praising him for speaking out on behalf of illegal immigrants and against what they see as government overreach.
Zach Bryan’s new song lands at a politically sensitive moment, as President Trump intensifies his 2025 immigration crackdown, ordering troop deployments to sanctuary states and launching sweeping operations like “Midway Blitz.”
Whether “Bad News” becomes an anthem for disaffected youth or a wedge between artist and audience remains to be seen.

What a piece od=f crap he is. Never listen to him again. NEVER
Anti ICE is NOT woke.
Deporting murderers, rapists, drug and sex traffickers, fraudsters, etc. is fine.
Deporting people who have jobs, are not on welfare and can pass a background check is not OK.
ICE is wrong here.
