Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

A U.S. diplomat has been fired after admitting to concealing a romantic relationship with a Chinese woman who has alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the State Department confirmed Wednesday.

According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, the termination was approved by President Donald Trump after an internal investigation concluded the diplomat violated national security protocols.

“The diplomat admitted concealing a romantic relationship with a Chinese national with known ties to the Chinese Communist Party,” Pigott said in a statement. “Under Secretary Rubio’s leadership, we will maintain a zero-tolerance policy for any employee who is caught undermining our country’s national security.”

Identity Not Publicly Released, But Video Emerges

The State Department has not officially named the fired official. However, Fox News confirmed that the individual is believed to be the same person featured in a recent undercover video by James O’Keefe’s organization, O’Keefe Media Group (OMG).

In the video, the man — reportedly a U.S. diplomat — tells an undercover journalist that he “defied [his] government for love,” and admitted that the woman he was involved with “could have been a spy.” He also stated that her father was “straight up Communist Party.”

The video, filmed covertly, has circulated widely online, fueling speculation and scrutiny over vetting procedures at the State Department.

China Responds, Declines to Engage

In Beijing, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson declined to comment on what was described as a “domestic U.S. issue.”

“But I would like to stress that we oppose drawing lines based on ideological difference and maliciously smearing China,” spokesman Guo Jiakun said during a press briefing.

Security Concerns and Growing Scrutiny

The incident comes amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and China, particularly over espionage concerns and influence operations.

In January, near the end of the Biden administration, the U.S. implemented new restrictions prohibiting American diplomats and contractors stationed in China from engaging in romantic or sexual relationships with Chinese nationals. The policy also extended to the families of those with security clearances, citing vulnerability to intelligence exploitation.

The Trump administration has continued and expanded many of these policies, citing ongoing threats from foreign actors. In May, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the U.S. would begin “aggressively revoking” student visas of Chinese nationals found to have connections to the CCP or Chinese military institutions.

Controversy Over Student Visas

Despite increased scrutiny, President Trump ignited debate in late August when he floated the possibility of allowing up to 600,000 Chinese students to study in the U.S. as part of a potential trade agreement with China.

While Trump emphasized the importance of cultural and academic exchange, many conservatives expressed concern that such a move could create new avenues for espionage or intellectual property theft, as well as undermine his America First agenda.

At the time, Trump said it was “important” to have Chinese students in the United States, but we also have to be cautious and know who’s coming in.

A Warning Shot?

The firing of the diplomat may be interpreted as a warning to other federal employees and contractors about the consequences of failing to disclose potentially compromising relationships. It also highlights the increasing focus on insider threats and loyalty within sensitive national security roles.

As the U.S. continues to recalibrate its diplomatic and strategic posture toward China, incidents like this one are likely to further fuel debate over security, transparency, and vigilance.

It’s too bad this had to happen. Unlike the democrats (marxists), the republicans take action against wrong doers, don’t they?
