The FBI just released enhanced surveillance video of the mysterious suspect who planted pipe bombs outside the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C. on the night before Jan. 6, 2021.
The footage tracks the individual roaming Capitol Hill between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., dropping one device outside the DNC at 7:54 p.m. and another outside the RNC just over 20 minutes later.
Investigators say the suspect — about 5′7″, wearing a gray hoodie, black gloves, face mask, and Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes with a yellow logo — remains unidentified. The new clip even animates the sneakers and maps the person’s route, underscoring that the shoes may be the biggest clue left.

According to a report obtained by CBS News in March 2021, the bombs contained only one method of detonation — a 60-minute kitchen timer. The devices did not go off, and when and whether they were meant to explode remains unclear. But the FBI said their analysis concluded the pipe bombs were viable and posed a danger to the public.
They were eventually discovered outside the buildings at about 1 p.m. on Jan. 6, around the time rioters breached the nearby Capitol grounds. Law enforcement officials have said the discovery of the pipe bombs likely diverted resources from the response to the simultaneous crisis at the Capitol.
David Sunberg, head of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, told CBS News in an interview that the case “is absolutely still a high priority” and the devices “could have killed somebody,” noting they were left “in a residential neighborhood.”
Sunberg and the FBI are urging members of the public to review the newly released information, which includes an animated rendering of the Nike shoes the suspect wore that day.
Three years later, no arrest has been made. The FBI says it has logged more than 600 tips, reviewed tens of thousands of videos, and interviewed over 1,000 people, but still doesn’t know who planted the bombs — or why.
A House GOP oversight report blasted the bureau for making “little meaningful progress,” saying the public deserves answers about one of the most puzzling open cases linked to the Jan. 6 timeline.

If they have this much video, they may have more that was collected. Not surprising if they could follow the perp back to the vehicle used or the door the perp came out of. Someone did that trace unless ordered not to for some reason. One would wonder why?
