Newsom’s got a plan…
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, one of the most high-profile critics of President Donald Trump, says he will consider running for the White House in 2028 after the midterm elections next year.
Asked in an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” whether it would be fair to assess that Gov. Newsom would give a campaign serious thought after the November 2026 vote, the term-limited governor said, “I’d be lying otherwise.”
In recent months, the California Governor has been trying to raise his national profile by adopting a combative style that mimics Trump’s social media strategy with similar all-caps posts, memes, and merchandise.
“I’m looking forward to who presents themselves in 2028 and who meets that moment. And that’s the question for the American people,” he said in the interview that aired Sunday.
On Thursday, Trump acknowledged he had agreed to halt a planned show of federal force planned for this weekend in San Francisco after appeals from tech executives and the mayor. Newsom was mayor of San Francisco between 2004 and 2011.
In the interview, Newsom described Trump as an “invasive species.”
“He’s a wrecking ball. Not just the symbolism and substance of the East Wing,” Newsom said, referring to the demolition of that part of the White House to build a ballroom. “He’s wrecking alliances, truth, trust, tradition, institutions.”
However, despite Newsom’s best attempts to characterize himself as the antithesis of Trump, the Democrat governor has faced criticism from those claiming he’s just another politician shifting his messaging to gain votes.
Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas) skewered Newsom for “code-switching” his accent to appear more relatable to Black men, with the Black Republican lawmaker saying it is yet another example of White liberals being racist, whether they realize it or not.
During an appearance on conservative influencer Benny Johnson’s podcast on Monday, Hunt went off on Newsom for his interview on the All the Smoke podcast this past weekend.
During his conversation with ex-NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Newsom said he grew up “hustling” in Marin County and routinely ate cheap dinners, like Kraft Mac & Cheese, as a kid. His recounting of his supposedly hardscrabble upbringing went a bit viral over the weekend, with one X clip racking up 1.8 million views.

This, according to Hunt, was a textbook case of white liberals talking down to Black men.
“The white, benevolent liberal is the most racist person I’ve ever seen in the history of this country, and many of them don’t even know it,” Hunt said. “The condescending tone in which they address us is utterly ridiculous.”
That cohort, Hunt said, “don’t view us as equal at all — and by us, I mean Black people. They talk down to us, they think we are too stupid to get an ID to vote, they think that we’re incapable of following the law, they always want to give us handouts instead of ‘hand-ups.’”

When Newsoom says,”“I’d be lying otherwise.”, Is that supposed to be reassuring? He lies ALL the time.
If Newsom is ever elected to the precedence of the United States he will do the same thing he done to California. We all know what that was.
