Greetings from the People’s Republic of Massachusetts!
It has been some time since I wrote about what is going on behind the enemy lines, but I can no longer stay silent.
I’m sure you saw our Governor Maura Healey crying over the government shutdown and the possibility of SNAP benefits not being covered for those on welfare. It is all for show!
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has a huge rainy day fund. If Healey were truly worried about feeding the poor, she would file a supplemental budget to fund the EBT cards. Right now, the legislature is in the process of passing a $2.5 billion supplemental budget to cover MassHealth’s rising costs. Why such a big shortfall so early in the fiscal year? Illegal immigrants are getting free health care while the rest of us are paying thousands of dollars every month.
Our state has also spent over $3 billion to house illegal immigrants, and that number is climbing daily. Now, you might have seen in the liberal media that Healey shut down the hotels housing the illegal immigrants. The hotels are closed, but she has moved them into the HomeBASE program, where they get two years of free apartment rent. That’s right; two years! If she was not spending $3 million per day to house undocumented migrants there would be money in our state budget to pay for SNAP. But, for Healey, it is better to waste the money and grab a headline to bash President Donald Trump.
If the housing costs for illegals are not mind-blowing enough, brace for impact. Last year, candidate for State Senate Kelly Dooner exposed that the number of EBT cards being issued in the Commonwealth has exploded. But by how many?
Let’s first review our illegal immigrant numbers. According to the Healey administration, the state has assisted over 8,000 families. If there are four to a family, that equals 32,000. So, at a maximum, you would think that Massachusetts has given out an additional 32,000 EBT cards, even though it is supposed to be one per family.
The data received from the Department of Transitional Assistance showed an additional 700,000 EBT cards had been given out. That’s not a typo! Can you say fraud?
That would mean an additional 9.8% of our state’s population needed food assistance. Are we in a depression up here? No. It is called a Democrat administration that is in control, where there is no oversight or accountability.
Hence, when you see Maura Healey whining about SNAP benefits, realize she doesn’t give a dam about feeding people. It is all about government handouts!
