Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

ST. GEORGE, Utah — Six weeks after conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk was gunned down on a college campus, the transgender partner of the accused shooter has disappeared — adding a new layer of intrigue to a case that has already rocked the nation.

Key Witness Missing From St. George Apartment

Lance Twiggs, 22, has not returned to the apartment he shared with Tyler Robinson, the man charged with killing Kirk on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University.

The New York Post reports that Twiggs vanished from the St. George residence shortly after the shooting. Federal officials say Twiggs is cooperating with investigators but has refused to speak with the press.

Robinson, also 22, is being held in Salt Lake City and faces trial for aggravated murder. Authorities say Robinson confessed to the shooting in private messages and tried to cover his tracks — evidence that prosecutors claim lays out the crime in his own words.

Court Appearance Echoes Prior High-Profile Case

At a brief hearing Monday, Robinson requested to appear in civilian clothes rather than a jail jumpsuit — a legal strategy used in other high-profile cases to reduce potential jury bias. The judge approved the clothing change but denied a request to remove shackles.

The move mirrors a failed attempt by Luigi Mangione, another defendant in a widely watched case, who was denied both requests.

Robinson’s next court date is set for Jan. 16, with a formal arraignment expected two weeks later.

Twiggs’s Background: Estranged From Family, Still in Contact

Twiggs, who began dating Robinson after being expelled from his conservative Mormon home in 2018, is identified by authorities using male pronouns. Venmo records reviewed by investigators show that his parents occasionally sent him money labeled for “prescriptions” or “gas.”

The last payment came shortly before Kirk’s murder.

It’s unclear whether Twiggs returned to his parents’ home or left the area entirely. His Infiniti FX35 is now parked in their driveway, but neighbors say they haven’t seen him.

Neighbors: ‘It’s Been Empty Since the Arrest’

According to Jesse Riley, who lives near the couple’s $1,800-a-month rental home, the property has sat vacant since Robinson turned himself in.

“It’s definitely a shock it happened here,” Riley said. “It’s a quiet neighborhood. You know your neighbor on your left or right, but people are pretty isolated.”

Conflicting Accounts of Twiggs’ Past

Family members offer mixed explanations for why Twiggs was kicked out of his childhood home. One relative cited disrespect, drug use, and excessive gaming. But others paint a different picture.

Braylon Nielsen, 19, whose family briefly housed Twiggs, said the narrative from his parents never made sense.

“I loved Lance. His parents kicked him out, and he lived with us,” Nielsen said. “He was a straight-A student. Very hardworking. Not a partier. He just took care of people.”

Text Messages Suggest Ongoing Contact

Investigators say Twiggs and Robinson remained in contact throughout the manhunt. In one message, Robinson reportedly confessed to the shooting and wrote, “[Y]ou are all I worry about love.”

Twiggs later turned those messages over to law enforcement.

Despite his proximity to the case, Twiggs has not been charged with any crime and remains a cooperating witness.

Family Suggests Mental Health Decline

One family member told the Post that Robinson’s mental health deteriorated during his relationship with Twiggs.

“I think Tyler got a whole lot worse in the year they were dating,” the relative said. “They’re big gamers, and they’ve got that group that influences them — online and otherwise.”

A Case That Keeps Raising New Questions

The sudden disappearance of Lance Twiggs has deepened the mystery surrounding a crime that has already shaken America’s political landscape to its core.

With prosecutors preparing for trial and a central witness still absent from public view, the case continues to evolve amid mounting uncertainty.
