A former St Louis Fox 2 television anchor is accused of stabbing her 80-year-old mother to death on Halloween morning in an alleged attempt to ‘save herself.”
Police in Wichita, Kansas, say Angelynn Mock staggered into the street drenched in blood outside a suburban home shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday. Neighbors say she fled into the street, begging for help.
“There was a woman who approached our vehicle with like blood, like her hands were filled, her body was filled with blood, asking to call 911,” local resident Alyssa Castro said.
Castro told KAKE that Mock then “took her phone and bolted back inside the house,” where she allegedly phoned emergency services and claimed she “stabbed [her] mother to save herself,” according to Sedgwick County dispatchers.
When officers with the Wichita Police Department arrived, Mock was waiting outside with a series of bloody cuts on her hands.

Mock’s mother, 80-year-old Anita Avers, was found “unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds.” She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died just 30 minutes later, according to the police department.
Mock was taken into custody and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for first-degree murder, and is being held on a $1 million bond, according to the county sheriff’s office.
Mock worked at KTVI Fox 2 as a morning and evening fill-in anchor from 2011 to 2015, according to her LinkedIn.
