With Election Day looming, the New Jersey Republican candidate is making the most of his final hours of his campaign as he continues to tighten the race against Dem. Mikie Sherrill.
In New Jersey, some high-profile Democrats like former President Barack Obama are racing to boost Sherrill amid signs the race against Ciattarelli is tightening even more than expected.
During a Saturday rally, Obama urged audience members to cast their ballots on Tuesday if they haven’t done so already through early voting.
“And then you’ve got to get all your friends, and your family, and that cousin who’s lying on the couch,” Obama said in Newark. “Just go, ‘Come on.’ Grab him off the couch.”
Speaking at a Fox News town hall with Sean Hannity in Point Pleasant, Ciattarelli vowed that his first executive order as governor would end New Jersey’s status as a sanctuary state.
“Executive order number one, on day one, no town in this state will be a sanctuary city, we will not be a sanctuary state,” Ciattarelli declared to roaring applause. He argued that current policies encourage illegal immigration and limit local law enforcement.
Trailing Democrat Rep. Mikie Sherrill by seven points according to Fox News polling, Ciattarelli insists his campaign still holds the momentum to pull off an upset in deep-blue New Jersey.
