The Democratic Party’s identity crisis found a new low this week — and it happened on the floor of a California event hall, where left-wing radio host Stephanie Miller literally knelt down and kissed the sneaker of Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), proudly broadcasting the humiliating display to her social-media followers.
Miller, a former actress turned liberal radio personality, shared photos and videos of herself prostrating at Crockett’s feet, writing on X, “Why, yes I DID kiss the sneakers of @JasmineForUS and I DO worship the ground she walks on!”

The post — which quickly racked up millions of views — showed Miller kneeling in front of Crockett, planting a full kiss on her shoe before standing up to hug the grinning congresswoman. Far from being embarrassed, Miller gushed that Crockett was “LOVELY about it!”
For many observers, however, the moment wasn’t lovely — it was downright mortifying.
A Party Obsessed With Symbolism Instead of Solutions
The spectacle unfolded at a celebration for California’s Proposition 50 — a controversial measure allowing Democratic lawmakers to redraw districts in ways that could eliminate up to five Republican congressional seats.
Miller doubled down in a follow-up video where she excitedly asked Crockett to “confirm that I just kissed your sneakers.” Crockett responded “this is true!” Miller then predicted that Crockett would become “the future senator of the great state of Texas.”
But online, the response was swift and brutal. Even many left-leaning users expressed deep secondhand embarrassment.
One user wrote, “You made yourself look terrible. You made her look bad. You make your ideology look awful.” Another wrote, “Imagine embarrassing and degrading yourself in hopes of impressing friends in your gossip circles.” Another declared, “I am absolutely embarrassed for you… because you clearly don’t have enough working brain cells to be embarrassed for yourself.”

Crockett, 44, has crafted a national profile by blasting Donald Trump and his allies in every possible forum and making bombastic statements, for example comparing him to Adolf Hitler. But behind the fiery public persona, reports from her own staff paint a very different picture.
Congressional aides have described the Dallas Democrat as rude, a “no-show boss from hell,” someone who “screams at her staff,” a representative “not focused on constituents,” and, perhaps most damningly, “all diva, no wow.”
These reports stand in sharp contrast to the tone Miller adopted in her now-viral shoe kiss — and underline the widening gulf between the Democratic Party’s activist class and everyday voters.

Miller, who calls her nationally syndicated program the “number-one rated liberal talk show,” has built her brand on uncritical cheerleading for Democratic politicians. But even for a partisan entertainer, this public kneeling crossed a line for many.
In a moment when Democrats claim to defend “democracy” and “norms,” a well-known media figure literally bowed to a politician’s feet without a hint of irony.
A Party Still Searching for Its Spine — and Settling Instead for Spectacle
If anything, the shoe-kissing fiasco captures the broader trend within the Democratic Party: an obsession with personalities instead of policies, symbolism over substance, and theatrical adoration of political figures who mistake social-media fame for leadership.
A movement that once claimed to “speak truth to power” now seems more interested in kissing the shoes of those who wield it.
And no amount of laughter from Crockett’s crowd can wash away the image of a grown woman on her knees, broadcasting to the world that this is what Democratic “enthusiasm” looks like in 2025.
