Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

Reference Operation Proper Exit. In the last 15 months I spent in Iraq, was in Diyala up in Muqdadiyah during the surge at FOB Normandy. Some of our Troopers went back to Normandy and in Muqdadiyah, Baqubah, multiple other locations those combat wounded were able to go anywhere without body armor and were thanked by the locals for their sacrifice (as many had lost limbs). All told our Troopers that things were then so much better now that AQIZ was gone. Enter a President that removes all combat troops and intel folks instead of letting them get things more stabilized. Things like getting Sunni and Shia to work together for Iraq and getting rid of the Iranian influence. AQIZ (by this time ISIS) returns and cause more problems than ever before. The war was WON before that move was made. And it took a long time for the Iraqis to get things settled down. Don not want to hear we lost the war there. The war was won and politicians rekindled the fire to keep the defense dollars and stocks flowing.
