‘Godfather’ Star Robert Duvall Dead At 95

Robert Duvall, the Academy Award-winning actor whose decades-long career made him one of Hollywood’s most respected performers, has died. He was 95.

Duvall’s wife, Luciana, confirmed his passing on Sunday in an emotional statement shared online. The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately made available.

“Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time,” she wrote. “Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort.”

“To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything,” she continued. “His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court.”

Luciana also reflected on the legacy her husband leaves behind through his work.

“For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented,” she said.

“In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind.”

Duvall was widely regarded as one of the finest actors of his generation, earning acclaim for his performances across film and television. Over the course of his storied career, he appeared in iconic productions such as Apocalypse Now and Lonesome Dove, as well as numerous other classics that cemented his reputation as a master of character-driven storytelling.

Robert Devall will be very very much missed. He was a shinning star in the example to all our citizens on how to conduct oneself in civil, caring, and ethical American life. He will be sorely missed. God bless his soul, and rest in peace dear Robert.

He was the retarded kid, Boo Radley, in To Kill a Mockingbird, a primary character and the embodiment of the story’s theme. I remember how significant and “real” his acting was.

The movies Robert Duvall were in were not always great movies, but his performances in those movies were. I only knew him from his performances, but it feels as though I have lost someone close. RIP Mr. Duvall
