Extreme gaslighting. And the legacy media helped push the false narrative. During a small anti-Islamification protest outside the official home of NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Saturday, led by Jake Lang, a pardoned Jan. 6 rioter and conservative influencer, over 100 aggressive leftist and Muslim “counter protesters” showed up itching for a fight.
Among the pro-Muslim group were two young men from Pennsylvania, apparently inspired by ISIS, armed with homemade bombs, or improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that according to law enforcement were designed to cause “serious injury or death.”
The FBI and NYPD confirmed both items to be IEDs, the bureau’s New York office said on X.
One counterprotester (aka: terrorist) Emir Balat, threw one “ignited device” at the 20, or so people in the group led by Lang outside Gracie Mansion, as another man yelled Allahu Akbar” — or “Allah is Most Great.” While the device smoked, it thankfully did not detonate.
The second terrorist, Ibrahim Kayumi, then provided Balat a second IED, which he ignited, but Balat was taken down by police and that device also failed to explode. (RELATED: Prosecutors Reveal Suspect In NYC Terror Probe Plotted Attack ‘Bigger Than The Boston Marathon Bombing’)

Had either device exploded, people could have been maimed or killed. The devices were made from a bottle partially filled with explosive material set inside glass jars and surrounded by nuts and bolts to create shrapnel. The fuse was apparently connected to an M80-type explosive firework.
The volatile explosive material inside the device consisted of triacetone triperoxide, or TATP, often synthesized from acetone and hydrogen peroxide, appearing as a white crystalline powder.
Another similar explosive device was found Sunday in a vehicle on East End Avenue about three blocks south of Gracie Mansion.
The FBI has launched a terrorism investigation looking into the likely ISIS link and travel by one or more suspects to Turkey recently. New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the bomb attack is being investigated as “an act of ISIS-inspired terrorism.”
Tisch said both admitted to being inspired by ISIS and are being charged with attempted support to a designated foreign terrorist organization (FTO).
“This was a planned attack motivated by extremist ideology and inspired by a violent, foreign terrorist organization,” Tisch said.
However, when the Democratic socialist mayor of NYC first released a statement on the incident, he deliberately hid the identities of the two Muslim bomb throwers, or any links to ISIS terrorism, while trying to blame the peaceful anti-Islamification protesters they’d targeted — all while falsely labeling them “white supremacists,” the favorite leftist buzzwords, other than fascist, for their noncommunist villains. “Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism,” Mamdani complained. “Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are.”
“What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are,” he continued.
This is Mamdani in action, gaslighting his opponents for crimes committed by his ISIS-inspired supporters. To be clear Lang’s protest had nothing to do with white supremacy and was called “Stop the Islamic Takeover of New York City, Stop New York City Public Muslim Prayer.” The latter refers to the growing use of loudspeakers in the city for Muslim chants and “call to prayer,” at all hours.
And the legacy liberal media did its part to keep the facts of the terror incident vague and confusing. The NYT had the headline: “Homemade Bomb Thrown at Protest Near N.Y.C. Mayor’s House, Police Say.”
The paper added: “The counterprotester accused of throwing the bomb was one of six people arrested after a clash with anti-Muslim protesters led by the right-wing activist Jake Lang.”
NBC News reported in its headline: “Two in custody after ‘suspicious devices’ lit outside Gracie Mansion amid anti-Islam protest,” downplaying the explosives, and noting only the anti-Islamification protest. The outlet then of course added: “The anti-Islam protest was led by right-wing influencer Jake Lang.”
Meanwhile, CBS News headline noted: “Improvised explosive found at protests near Manhattan’s Gracie Mansion, Mamdani’s official residence, NYPD says.” The story then leads with reference to the “far-right” Jake Lang protest, followed by the (apparently non-ideological) counterprotest called,”Run the Nazis Out of New York City/Stand Against Hate.”
None of these media reports initially referred to the ISIS link, act of terrorism, or Muslim identities of the bomb throwers. But all were sure to identify “far-right” and “anti-Islam” influencer, Jake Lang.
