Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson says U.S. intelligence agencies may be preparing a criminal case against him tied to his communications with sources in Iran. But so far, the claim rests entirely on Carlson’s own account, and no government agency has confirmed any investigation.
Carlson made the allegation in a video posted online, saying the CIA accessed his private messages before the U.S.-Israel war with Iran and is preparing a criminal referral to the Department of Justice.
Carlson’s allegation
In the video, Carlson said the CIA “read my texts” and is working toward asking the Justice Department to charge him under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA.
According to Carlson, the alleged violation would stem from communicating with individuals in Iran before the conflict began.
He described those conversations as routine reporting work.
Carlson also rejected the idea that he acted as a foreign agent. He said he has never taken money from a foreign government and therefore could not be working on its behalf.
“The ‘crime’ is talking to people in Iran before the war,” Carlson said, describing the alleged basis of the referral.

No confirmation from the government
As of now, Carlson’s claims have not been confirmed by federal authorities.
The CIA has not publicly addressed the allegation that it accessed his text messages. The Justice Department has also made no announcement about an investigation or potential charges.
Without confirmation from either agency, Carlson’s statements remain unverified.
Debate over Carlson’s Iran coverage
The dispute comes amid broader controversy surrounding Carlson’s commentary on the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran.
Carlson has been sharply critical of the war and of U.S. foreign policy toward Tehran. He has questioned the rationale for the conflict and previously interviewed Iranian officials as part of his reporting.
Supporters say those interviews fall squarely within the bounds of journalism.
What the foreign-agent law requires
The Foreign Agents Registration Act, passed in 1938, requires people working on behalf of foreign governments or political groups to disclose their activities to the Justice Department.
Criminal violations typically involve acting as a lobbyist or political advocate for a foreign government, receiving money or direction from that government, and failing to register with federal authorities.
Legal experts note that simply communicating with foreign officials or sources, including adversarial governments, does not automatically violate the law.
The bottom line
Carlson says the CIA accessed his private messages and is pushing the Justice Department to pursue charges under the foreign agent law.
But as of now, no U.S. agency has confirmed any such investigation or referral. The allegation currently rests solely on Carlson’s own statements.

If the CIA accessed Tucker’s text messages, what law allows them to do that? WTF?! WHO authorized it? Did Trump know ahead of time?
The United States government is running out of control.
