Six House Republicans broke with GOP leadership on Wednesday, joining Democrats to advance legislation that would provide billions of dollars in additional support to Ukraine despite ongoing opposition from President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson.
The House voted 218-204 in favor of a discharge petition that forces consideration of the Ukraine Support Act, a measure that had remained stalled for more than a year after Republican leaders declined to bring it to the floor.
The vote marks one of the most significant bipartisan challenges to Republican leadership on foreign.

After urging Republicans to be “flexible” on the issue of taxpayer-funded abortion, approving cheaper abortion pills and continuing the practice of mailing abortion pills into states with abortion bans, President Donald Trump is now sending millions of tax dollars to the national abortion chain Planned Parenthood.
“The Trump-Vance administration has decided not to cancel Biden’s Title X grant awards to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business. After initially pausing funds that were awarded under President Biden, the administration unfroze the grants in January and will now extend them one more year,” the pro-life group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America reports.
SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser issued the following statement in response:
“Funding Planned Parenthood means propping up a business whose main purpose is to end the lives of innocent unborn children.
“This is an inexplicable slap in the face to the pro-life GOP base. Three out of four GOP base voters support defunding Planned Parenthood. One third of those voters say they’d be less enthusiastic about voting this November if the GOP abandons pro-life policies.
“This is a clear abandonment as the first Trump administration enacted the Protect Life Rule to stop Title X funding of Planned Parenthood. It should have been ‘Day One’ policy in the second administration. Instead, we are 14 months in and this hasn’t been prevented.
“This comes on the heels of the administration undermining GOP states by allowing the shipping of abortion drugs into their borders, violating their laws. And it comes after the president suggesting the GOP should be ‘flexible’ on the Hyde Amendment. This spells disaster for November. SBA’s field team is in the top battlegrounds, working every day to communicate with voters unlikely to vote if they aren’t motivated. This undermines their work, and amounts to political suicide. Enough is enough.”
