Former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), who resigned from Congress last month amid multiple sexual misconduct allegations, is now facing additional claims that he sent explicit messages and videos to women over social media, according to a new CNN report.
The report, published Sunday, cites “more than a dozen” women who said Swalwell made them feel uncomfortable through a pattern of behavior spanning years — both in person and online.
Several women told CNN that Swalwell sent sexually explicit messages through Snapchat after becoming an early adopter of the platform in Congress. At the time, Swalwell publicly framed his use of the app as a way to connect with constituents.
“We can restore a lot of faith that people have in their democracy by opening it up a little bit more,” Swalwell told The Hill in 2016 after joining the messaging service. “Snapchat is a great way to do that.”
According to the report, however, some of those interactions allegedly turned personal and explicit.
One woman said Swalwell initially messaged her about her future before asking questions such as, “What are you wearing?” Others alleged that he sent “sexually explicit messages and unsolicited nude photos and videos of himself” in 2021. A third woman described receiving “sexually tinged messages and videos.”
In one instance, a former congressional staffer told CNN she entered into a consensual relationship with Swalwell after he began communicating with her on Snapchat in 2021. During that relationship, she said he sent “nude photos of himself and videos of him masturbating,” which showed his “face and naked body.”
The woman said she saved some of the videos, which were reviewed by CNN.
“His stories would be his, like, congressional content, but then he would be sending me dick pics,” she said, adding that she received another “explicit video” late last year, shortly before Swalwell launched his 2026 gubernatorial campaign.
Other accounts in the report describe unsolicited outreach. One woman said Swalwell wrote her a letter of recommendation after exchanging flirtatious messages, including comments about her “sexy pajamas,” despite never having met her in person.
Clara Miklaucic, who was 19 at the time, told CNN that Swalwell contacted her on LinkedIn after a brief interaction at a restaurant in 2021.
“I remember being surprised getting a message from him since I didn’t give him any information, other than probably my first name,” she said. “He was literally over double my age.”
Another woman said she had to remind Swalwell that he was “married with three kids” after he added her on Snapchat and suggested they meet.
The report also alleges that after CNN sought comment from Swalwell’s attorney, the former congressman contacted several women in the early morning hours regarding screenshots of his messages.
The new allegations add to a widening scandal that has rapidly reshaped Swalwell’s political career. Once a prominent Democratic figure and frequent critic of former President Donald Trump, Swalwell rose to national attention during his time on the House Intelligence Committee and as a candidate in the 2020 presidential race.
In recent weeks, however, that trajectory has reversed. Swalwell suspended his campaign for California governor last month following accusations of sexual assault and misconduct from multiple women — allegations he has denied as “false.” He subsequently resigned from Congress amid bipartisan calls for his removal and the threat of expulsion.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s office confirmed it is reviewing at least one allegation tied to an incident in New York.
As new allegations continue to emerge, the former congressman’s legal and political challenges appear far from over.

This is what’s commonly called a DIRT BAG!
Just think this scumbag Eric Swalwell is getting a nice government pension at the expense of the taxpayers. Why was he allowed to resign he should have been expelled, but the deep state said no to expelling, so he could get his pension
What a ‘sicko’. We’ve got to wonder how many of these scumbags are there in government office.
There are ‘sickos’ and there are socialist/communists ( but then, I repeat myself ) who have need to go away and leave real Americans alone.
You have made, and will continue to make inroads into our government, but we are just beginning to fight back.
We have a thing in this country called the U.S. Constitution.
WE WILL NOT LET IT GO!
Those who work against our Constitution will find themselves on the wrong side of prison bars!
We WANT a decent and moral government, and we WILL get one.
This is not a threat, but it IS a promise!
It’s a GUARANTEED promise!
Despite the failures of our country, we are STILL the best country on the face of this earth!
There has NEVER been a perfect government on this earth, but this one ( that we HAD ) is the best that has ever been.
