A Washington state woman allegedly chased a child riding a dirt bike onto a sidewalk and tried to run him down — only to walk free from jail without posting bail less than 24 hours later.
Wendy Clemente, 56, was arrested Monday after deputies say she drove a silver sedan onto a residential sidewalk in Spokane County and attempted to hit the boy during a reckless outburst around 5:05 p.m., according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
A witness captured video showing the sedan pursuing the child along the sidewalk as horrified neighbors watched.

Deputies quickly identified Clemente as the suspect and launched a search for her.
Roughly an hour later, authorities responded to another disturbing call just a mile away after a homeowner spotted a suspicious woman on his security cameras trying door handles outside his property.
When deputies arrived, they found Clemente standing in the driveway and took her into custody.
Investigators said Clemente initially denied any wrongdoing and claimed she was simply looking for “other dogs” for her pet to socialize with. She also told deputies she did not know the homeowner and claimed she could not remember the earlier confrontation involving the child.
Deputies reported noticing signs of impairment. Clemente first denied drinking alcohol before later admitting she had been drinking, authorities said.
When officers attempted to place her into a patrol vehicle, deputies say she resisted arrest and tried to kick one of them.
Authorities later obtained a search warrant for a blood sample as part of the DUI investigation.
Clemente was booked into the Spokane County Jail on multiple charges, including attempted first-degree assault, DUI, and first-degree criminal trespass.
But despite the alarming allegations, the sheriff’s office said a court commissioner ordered Clemente released the very next day on her own recognizance — meaning she was freed without having to post bond.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
