North Dakota Man Released After Killing Teenage ‘Republican Extremist’

-

The North Dakota man who allegedly admitted to mowing down an 18-year-old after engaging in a “political argument” was released from jail after making his $50,000 bail bond.

On Tuesday, Shannon Brandt, 41, was released from Stutsman County Jail stemming from criminal charges related to the death of 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson. Ellingson was reportedly killed Sunday morning in a hit-and-run at a street dance in McHenry after Brandt intentionally mowed him down with his SUV before fleeing the scene.

Court papers say Brandt confessed to intentionally running down the pedestrian while speaking to a 911 dispatcher. He claimed Ellingson was a “Republican extremist” who had been threatening him. (RELATED: Biden Calls 75 Million Trump Voters ‘MAGA Extremists')

Officers arrested Brandt outside of his home in Glenfield.

According to a probable-cause affidavit obtained by Fox News, Brandt admitted to running Ellingson down with his car after the teenager allegedly “threatened him.” Brandt also admitted he had consumed alcohol prior to the tragic event.

“Brandt stated that the pedestrian called some people and Brandt was afraid they were coming to get him,” the document continues. “Brandt admitted to State Radio that he hit the pedestrian and that the pedestrian was part of a Republican extremist group.”

“Brandt admitted to striking the pedestrian with his car because he had a political argument with the pedestrian and believed the pedestrian was calling people to come get him,” the court document continues. “Brandt admitted to leaving the scene of the incident and returning shortly after where he called 911.”

As American Liberty News previously reported:

Brandt was officially charged Monday with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a deadly accident.

Court papers show Brandt called 911 around 2:30 a.m. Sunday and told the 911 dispatcher that he just hit Ellingson, claiming the teen was part of a Republican extremist group and was calling people to come get Brandt after a political argument.

Ellingson's mom told police her son called her just before the crash, asking if she knew Brandt, which she does. She does not believe her son knew him.

  1. The man that killed the teenager needs to be charged with murder!!! Our judicial system has gone to hell in a handbag!!!

  2. The poor guy was in fear for his life. He didn’t want to become one of the 10’s of thousands of attacks every day from those Republican Extremist Groups on patriotic innocent climate worshipping Democrats. You know – those attacks – that Brandon talks about every time they hand him a microphone. Personally, I am fed up with Brandon and democrats in general. All I can say to Brandon – sometimes fantasy becomes reality. Like when Brandon said he would be President and amazingly was elected because some “republicans” found mean tweets objectionable.

  3. This is so horrific. I can’t even imagine the terror and grief experienced by that boy and his family. Why it’s that animal already out of jail? Who is really the extremist here anyway? He expects the huddle to be lenient because this animal threw his own life away by taking the life of an innocent boy? unbelievable!!

  4. Probably should have said, “released on bail”. That way you don’t fire people up more than necessary – unless that was your intent. But there is enough of that stuff out there. He isn’t going anywhere except to trial and jail.
