Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent acknowledged Wednesday that he threatened to “kick ass” during a heated confrontation last year, while firmly denying reports that he threatened to punch the now-acting Director of National Intelligence “in the face.”

The unusual exchange emerged during a Senate Finance Committee hearing, where Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) pressed Bessent about reports surrounding a confrontation between the two Trump administration officials during the summer of 2025.

According to Bessent, one key detail in the widely circulated account was inaccurate.

A neonatal nurse in Great Britain is on trial in a case that has shaken the nation to its core. Lucy Letby, 32, stands accused of a series of attacks in 2015 and 2016 that led to the deaths of seven babies and near deaths of 15 more at Countess of Chester Hospital, near Liverpool.

Jurors heard for the first time on Tuesday that one of the victim’s mothers interrupted Letby’s attack on her newborn son only to be convinced that the distressed baby was in the best possible hands.

“Trust me, I’m a nurse,” Letby allegedly told the distraught mother as blood poured from her premature child’s mouth, bleeding which she said came from a nasogastric tube irritating his throat. Alone again with her three-pound victim, Letby murdered the infant boy at her leisure. The following day, she unsuccessfully attempted to kill his twin.

Prosecutors claim Lethby killed the infants either by injecting them with fatal doses of insulin or air. In some cases, it took multiple attempts to finish off her victims, who were first saved by other doctors and nurses who initially didn’t suspect a psychopathic killer was lying in their midst.

In 2018 and 2019, authorities took Letby into custody after independent investigations by the hospital and the National Institute of Health couldn’t figure out why the number of neonatal deaths at Countess of Chester Hospital doubled in a single year. Finally, after being brought in for questions on three separate occasions, prosecutors formally charged her. While Letby worked hard to cover her tracks and always have an alibi, her presence was the one common denominator at all of the unit’s “catastrophic collapses” and couldn’t be ignored.

The Guardian further reports:

The trial also heard on Tuesday how Letby, who was qualified to care for seriously ill newborns, texted a colleague to say it would be “cathartic” to be in a room where a baby had died – allegedly by poisoning – five days earlier.

She told her friend she wanted “to see a living baby in the space that had previously been occupied by a dead baby”, the jury of eight women and four men was told.

Although she was supposed to be caring for a baby in another room, Letby allegedly entered the room of a four-day-old boy and injected him with air through a nasogastric line to his stomach.

As fellow nurses failed to resuscitate the boy, Baby C, she told one colleague: “He’s going,” jurors were told.

At least one of the surviving victims, then three-months-old, was left with irreversible brain damage after Letby tried three times to kill her by injecting milk and air into her feeding tube.

Letby has pled not guilty to all 22 charges against her.

She’s watching the trial in a glass-enclosed security dock feet away from the victims’ relatives.

Had to be umbilical artery catheters not feeding tubes. Injecting milk and air into a feeding tube in the stomach would not cause any harm.

I know UK hasn’t the death sentence, but this maniac needs the worst sentence that can be given.

The people that do these crimes have to be put to death immediately. Don`t waste another morsel of food water or bed space. Let them take the place of fertilizer.

She has to be a hero of the left. How soon before they are erecting statues in her honor? I’m sure it was to save mother earth after all…
