A-10 Warthogs to brush up on maritime combat in Pacific deployment. A group of A-10C Thunderbolt II attack planes are deployed to Guam for training amid tensions between the U.S. and its regional rivals, China and North Korea, the Air Force said Wednesday.
HOMELAND SECURITY
Pentagon’s US-Mexico border mission extends for another year. Federally-activated National Guard troops are expected to continue to deploy along the U.S. southern border through summer 2023, a Pentagon spokesman confirmed to Military Times on Friday. Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 250. The United Nations, Turkey and Ukraine are pressing ahead to implement a Black Sea grain deal with a transit plan in place for 16 ships on Monday, despite Russia suspending participation in the pact that has allowed the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to world markets.
Video shows alleged Ukrainian drone swarm attack on Russian warships in Crimea. Russia accused Ukraine of carrying out the attack, with British support.
Ukraine says 218 vessels blocked after Russia suspends grain deal. A total of 218 vessels are “effectively blocked” due to Russia’s decision to suspend its participation in a grain export deal, Ukraine’s infrastructure ministry said on Sunday.
NORTH KOREA THREAT

POLITICAL SCAPEGOAT – White House rejects promoting general involved in Capitol riot response. The White House rejected a recommendation by senior Pentagon officials to promote an Army general who came under intense scrutiny after the Pentagon’s slow response to the riot at the Capitol, defense officials said, pushing the officer to a near-certain retirement.
