South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has been a steadfast supporter of the former president, but it sounds like she might be hedging her bets these days.
Noem, one of Trump’s biggest allies during his time in the White House, rose to prominence through her hands-off approach to COVID-19. However, at the recent Republican Governors Association meeting, Noem told attendees that Trump no longer gave Republicans “the best chance” to win back the presidency.
The Daily Wire reports:
“If we narrow our focus there, then we’re not talking to every single American,” Noem said, according to The New York Times. “Our job is not just to talk to people who love Trump or hate Trump. Our job is to talk to every single American.”
In the same interview, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who is in the MAGA-wing of the Republican Party, also took a shot at the former president, saying he believed there would be better candidates in 2024.
Politico reported that at the Orlando gathering, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was the main focus for those in attendance as he challenged the idea that Republicans can’t compete with the election tactics of Democrats.
DeSantis, who last week won his re-election bid by a margin of nearly 20% even as Republicans nationwide had a disappointing showing, noted that he encouraged his supporters to use mail-in voting. He also argued that the GOP can appeal to suburban and rural communities at the same time, pointing out that he performed well in suburban communities even while scoring “Saddam Hussein margins” in rural communities, some of which he won by as many as 84 points.
Noem’s remarks follow the decision of three GOP megadonors to come out against supporting Trump’s continued presidential aspirations. One of them, Blackstone Chairman and CEO Stephen Schwarzman told Axios “America does better when its leaders are rooted in today and tomorrow, not today and yesterday.”
“It is time for the Republican Party to turn to a new generation of leaders and I intend to support one of them in the presidential primaries,” Schwarzman added.

We can’t move on to tomorrow until we get todays’ problems solved, and while Gov. Ron DeSantis is a great man and governor he would have a multi year learning curve as president, while President Trump has been through the fire and is ready to burn down the Swamp and that is why they hate him so much and do everything they can possibly think of to try to destroy him, but God is not going to let that happen.
Trump, with military backing (188 in 2016, 200 in 2020) is far more suitable for 2024 than ANY wannabe ladder climbers!! He proved that in 2016! He kept all promises & did more FOR the stability & prosperity of our nation than any President yet!! The only thing left to do is “drain the swamp/lock her up” as there are many more than just “her” revealed these days!!❤️🇺🇸🙏🏻
That’s okay, I’m lukewarm about Trump as well. There won’t be a country left in two years in any event. Ivanka’s out and I don’t blame her one bit. It’ll be interesting to see if Eric goes on this roller coaster ride again. We don’t need a President who says “me” more than any other word in the English language. We already had that and his name was Obama. Trump isn’t cute anymore. He should’ve started the America First party and because of his ego, he didn’t and doomed this country.
Pres Trump didn’t start the America First party because he felt the legitimacy of the GOP would help without having to dilute campaigns with a 3rd party. But RINOs do NOT believe in America First; they believe in their personal power and economic advantage more than the American citizen they supposedly work for. Trump may use ‘me’ more than the average guy, but remember he is the only president in my lifetime ( I’m 73) who actually did what he promised to do when he campaigned. And that was despite a CONSTANT barrage from the swamp. The swamp was a lot deeper than even DJT imagined! I’d like to give him a chance to finish the job and get the USA back on track to a country based on freedom and small government as was envisioned by the men who designed and wrote an incredible US Constitution.
Any thinking person knows, and can see that Trump is toxic and the hate for him runs wide and deep across this country. If the GOP makes him their candidate the republicans will not only lose in 2024 but will most likely lose what little gains they made this year. I voted for him in 2016 and 2020 but can not vote for him again. We must find a candidate that unites us, not further divides us. Trump’s time has come and gone, it’s too bad his ego won’t left him believe otherwise.

I’ve got to say, I’m disappointed in Kristie. She should look to Kari Lake for some spine. The RINOs must have gotten to her telling her what a bright future she’ll have if she turns on DJT.
You can talk to all Americans, but, if you spread your message so that all will agree with it and support it you will have NO MESSAGE! Kristi is just another Progressive Republican who used Trump without buying into the policies.
President Trump has the experience and he knows what to expect. He is tough and he knows how to get the job done. Americans we need him back!
Kristi, you would be better off exposing the pressure the rinos are putting on you than joining them. Dont go to the dark side, remember Trump turned down the big donors the first time so he would not be indebted to them. He spent much less and won. He is proven in the face of adversity and gave us the greatest 4 years in spite of all the false narratives. If you think it wont continue with a new candidate I have a bridge for you. Only Trump has done it better since Regan, only Trump can hit the ground running. Please do not let the rinos use you.
