House Judiciary Committee Republicans will waste no time holding President Joe Biden accountable for alleged corruption, announcing next year’s congressional majority will immediately investigate the White House for using federal law enforcement to target parents who criticized leftist education policies.
In a letter to White House chief of staff Ron Klain, Ranking Member Jim Jordan warns the Committee is willing to subpoena Biden administration officials as part of a House investigation into a scheme by the Justice Department, outlined in a memo, to investigate parents as suspected “domestic terrorists” if they publicly criticized policies favoring transgendered students or critical race theory.
That October 2021 memo, issued by Attorney General Merrick Garland, instructed all federal law enforcement agencies to respond to alleged “threats” against local school boards but offered no evidence of any possible violence. It was issued in response to a request from the left-wing National School Board Association, which felt criticism of its liberal policies “could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes.” (RELATED: School Board Association Wanted Biden to Use Military Force Against Parents)
At least two parents were targeted by federal agents for non-violent criticisms of local school policies, with one visited by FBI agents after she announced plans to run against a liberal incumbent for her local school board.
The White House quickly backtracked and claimed to oppose the plan after it was widely criticized for its obvious intent of suppressing criticism of Democrat Party policies ahead of an election. (RELATED: WATCH: Mom Goes Viral After Confronting School Board)
“Over the past twenty-one months, we have made several requests for information and documents concerning the Biden Administration’s misuse of federal criminal and counterterrorism resources to target concerned parents at school board meetings,” writes Jordan.
“To date, you have ignored these requests. Please be aware that if our requests remain outstanding at the beginning of the 118th Congress, the Committee may be forced to resort to compulsory process to obtain the material we require,” Jordan writes, warning of legally-enforceable subpoenas.
Jordan then requests testimony from four Biden administration figures.
“In addition, to advance our oversight of the Biden Administration’s use of federal law enforcement with respect to school board-related threats, we require prompt testimony from employees of the Executive Office of the President (EOP). We expect your unfettered cooperation in arranging for the Committee to receive testimony from EOP employees,” Jordan adds.
Jordan informed Klain that “early in the 118th Congress,” Mary C. Wall, Senior Advisor, COVID-19 Response Team; Julie C. Rodriguez, Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs; Katherine Pantangco, Policy Advisor for Intergovernmental Affairs; and Nezly Silva, Senior Policy Analyst for Intergovernmental Affairs, should be prepared to testify under oath before the Committee and begin scheduling the appearances immediately.
