A Vietnam veteran reports he is being evicted from low-income housing run by Georgia Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock, despite having paid back rent.
Warnock’s management of the Columbia Tower at MLK Village has become an issue in his deadlocked runoff campaign against Republican nominee Herschel Walker, with residents reporting deplorable living conditions and being served eviction notices over debts of less than $30.
Phillip White, an African-American Marine veteran who served two combat tours in Vietnam, provided the Washington Free Beacon with the Sept. 20 eviction order served to him over $192 in unpaid rent, along with money order receipts showing a $542 rent payment on Nov. 2.
Despite Warnock’s claims he has no plans to evict tenants, Columbia Residential appears to be proceeding with a court case to evict White after Warnock’s Dec. 6 election, even though White has paid his rent in full.
“He said there would be no evictions,” White tells the Free Beacon. “He knew that was a lie. What he was really saying is there would be no evictions until after the election.”
The building is owned by Warnock’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, and Warnock is listed as the building’s principal officer.
The church claims in state tax filings the building is run as a federally-recognized tax-exempt charity. Georgia officials can find no record of such a federal tax exemption and have subpoenaed Ebenezer Baptist’s records as part of a possible tax fraud investigation.
Warnock is also under fire for evading Senate rules restricting outside income by accepting a tax-free “housing allowing” of $7,417 a month and using campaign funds to pay back child support and cover legal expenses in a personal lawsuit unrelated to his campaign. Both appear not to be allowed under federal campaign finance laws.

Is anyone really surprised at this? What we have is just one more phony preacher living the good life. The housing allowance he gives himself is more than most people earn at their jobs in a month. Wonder what MLK would think of this guy and his greed? A real Christian isn’t he?
Warnock has – if reports are correct – broken the law and shown a lack of ethics. Voters should be prepared for him to treat them the same way since a tiger doesn’t change his stripes.
