A public interest law firm with a record of winning cases is now suing the Biden administration to force the release of internal communications planning an armed federal raid on the home of former President Donald Trump.
Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security “for all communications between the Secret Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding the search warrant which precipitated the raid on former President Donald Trump’s Florida residence at Mar-a-Lago on August 8, 2022.”
The Secret Service cooperated with FBI agents and gave them full access to all portions of Mar-a-Lago, including private bedrooms.
Judicial Watch, in a previous filing, forced the release of the affidavit used to secure the raid’s search warrant.
“The Secret Service’s changing story on whether it has documents on the Biden administration’s unprecedented raid on former President Trump’s home should be resolved by a federal court,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Judicial Watch requested the records of any such communications soon after the raid after the BBC and ABC News reported agents in the FBI’s Miami field office told the Secret Service of the raid ahead of time.
The Secret Service initially claimed to have materials covered by the request but soon after issued a letter to Judicial Watch retracting that admission and claiming to have no communications with the FBI.
