One of the House’s most well-known Republicans has suffered a stinging defeat to a congressman sworn in just days ago.
Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, is widely regarded as a rising star in the Republican Party. Yet his glow appears to have dimmed, at least temporarily among conservatives, after he called the hardliners who nearly derailed Kevin McCarthy’s speakership bid “terrorists.”
Crenshaw initially declined to apologize before explaining himself in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
That explanation didn’t prevent Crenshaw from losing the plumb committee assignment to Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn. Green is a member of the House Freedom Caucus and, like Crenshaw, a veteran in the war on terror.
He will now lead the oversight of the Department of Homeland Security and all matters related to terrorism and illegal immigration.
The New York Post further reports:
Crenshaw raised the ire of his colleagues during the prolonged floor fight for speaker last week when he raged against a group of around 20 Freedom Caucus members who withheld their votes from McCarthy until they could extract concessions on the way the 118th Congress was run.
“They are enemies now,” Crenshaw told CNN of the holdouts following a heated closed-door GOP conference meeting Tuesday. “They have made it clear that they prefer a Democrat agenda than a Republican one.”
The same day, Crenshaw told Fox News Radio host Guy Benson of the rebels: “We cannot let the terrorists win.”
“They demand more places on committees,” Crenshaw told Benson. “So McCarthy says, ‘OK, give me a list of names.’ And then they refuse. And then they say, ‘Oh, you’re trying to trick us.’ You know? I mean, it’s like playing with children. I mean, it’s very difficult to understand what it is they want.”

Crenshaw is a rino. This retired USAF person desires better then a rino to represent her. You’re not worth the time to listen to your progressive garbage. This country needs Trump now more then ever.
Dan Crenshaw should know better than to accuse his fellow Republican Congress members of “terrorism” and childish behavior and impugn their character when their motive is clearly to stalwartly protect our nation and its citizens. Crenshaw took an oath to do the latter when he served in the military and, once again, when he was elected to the People’s House.
I am certain Tennessee Congressman Mark Greene will do a fine job leading the Homeland Security Committee as he also served with America’s finest—our military personnel—and continues to uphold his oath.
Am I the only one who saw what and who Dan Crenshaw was before he was elected? He’s a slimy snake, keep an eye on him! (No pun intended)

When he first arrived in Congress, Crenshaw looked like he had potential. He shot it all on his “terrorists” remark. We have enough LIARS on the DIMM side; we don’t need ANY on our side.
Just like Mike Rogers from Alabama! I was born, raised and still live in the Great State of Alabama! And NO, I’m not a Tide fan…JS. His behavior in the Peoples House was unforgivable! Unfortunately, I’m not in his district so I can’t vote against him but I can DAMN sure do my part to keep EVERYONE reminded of that childish, shelf serving and thuggish episode! He’s TRASH just like Crenshaw! Neither of them are worthy of the office they hold!

There is nothing confusing about what these people want! They want the House to run like it should, and not like a dictatorship as Piglosi ran it. They want changes that help change congress to be responsive to the public. This is how a Constitutional Republic runs!
I used to like Crenshaw. Now it appears that he has become one of them.
