Antifa continues to cause problems in the Atlanta metro area, and Georgia’s governor has taken bold actions that he believes will help curb the violence.
Brian Kemp issued an executive order Thursday that contained an emergency declaration set to last two weeks through February 9th, ordering the Georgia Department of Defense to call up 1,000 National Guard Troops to State Active Duty.
Protests in Atlanta turned violent last weekend after “the death of Manuel Esteban Paez Terán (“Tortuguita”), a climate activist who was killed during a violent confrontation with police earlier in the week”, per National Review.
A tweet shared by the Atlanta Police Department earlier this week showed the names, cities, and booking photos of those arrested in last weekend’s protest.
Only one of the six individuals arrested appears to be from the Atlanta area, with all others residing outside of the state of Georgia.
Polling numbers from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution showed Kemp with record-high approval ratings earlier this week.
Kemp was recently sworn into his second term as Governor, after being re-elected last fall.

Not understanding why any official person anywhere put up with this nonsense in the summer of 2020. Can someone tell me the psychology behind “letting them get it out of their system”? These are adults working with a child’s mentality. They should be disciplined like children–immediately.
Yes, let’s turn them over our knee and spank them! Better yet, let’s treat them like adults. Arrest them, try them, and lock them up. People from outside Atlanta should be treated like domestic terrorists. Lock them up for a longer period of time.

“Delayed adolescence” is a common denominator among Antifas. Some of them remain as teenagers well into their 30s. Few of them have jobs, living in basements at their mom’s house, and spend their non-riot hours playing violent video games. They live on Cheetos and Mountain Dew. Those few who do have jobs are usually schoolteachers and classroom aids. Half of the Antifas booked by the Portland police are schoolteachers.
Rather than pontificating and declaring toothless Executive Orders, why not simply force Atlanta police and judiciary to arrest, charge and prosecute the VASTLY LARGER NUMBER of THUGS, Tertrorists and LeftWing BROWNSHIRTS, beyond the 6 currently arrested?
There is more than adequate video to show the number breaking the law was FAR MORE than these 6 TERRORISTS!
Don – APD likely doesn’t have the manpower to arrest all of them even if they were ‘allowed’ to. I’ve been around similar ‘mostly peaceful’ activity a few times. The strategy that seemed to work the best over all is to pick off the stragglers a few at a time. IF the coppers have the backing from the politicians (not very often these days) and the manpower to do so, sending in strike teams to penetrate the rioters and grab the ring leaders works pretty well too.
The absolute worst tactic is to simply ‘give then space……………………
Antifa should be prosecuted under the RICO statutes as an on-going criminal organization. Americ needs many fewer Antifas. A law allowing people to shoot them to protect life and property would also be very helpful.
