President Joe Biden has unveiled a slew of new initiative to address violent crime in America.
Speaking in New York City on Thursday, Biden reminded 330 million Americans that he despises the right to bear arms.
Biden ignored the predicament underfunded police departments find themselves in, thanks to radical activists and far-left district attorneys. He also failed to mention that ambush-style attacks against police officers increased by 153% last year.
Even worse, he had nary a word to say about the 45% increase in early police officer retirements between 2020 and 2021. In such a hostile climate, fomented by Democrats, it’s no surprise that some departments have flat-out canceled incoming classes for new recruits.
Instead, Biden returned to the Democrats’ old playbook, targeting the Second Amendment. Defiant as ever, Biden proclaimed “there’s no amendment that’s absolute.”
The Washington Examiner reports:
“Remember, when the amendment was passed, they didn’t say anybody can own a gun, any kind of gun, or any kind of weapon,” he said. “You couldn’t buy a cannon when this amendment was passed, and so nobody with the money should be able to buy certain assault weapons, but that’s another issue.”
Biden has made this ridiculous claim about cannons before. It’s as wrong now as it was then. AmmoLand.com Editor Duncan Johnson fact-checked the president in a post confirming that private citizens during the Revolutionary War owned muskets, swivel guns and — gasp — cannons. In fact, without those private arsenals, the conflict could have turned out very differently.
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) and New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) stood alongside president during his anti-gun drivel.
Of course, there was weight behind Biden’s words.
At the direction of the White House, the DOJ is launching a National Ghost Gun Enforcement Initiative, “which will train a national cadre of prosecutors and disseminate investigation and prosecution tools to help bring cases against those who use ghost guns to commit crimes.”
At the same time, federal prosecutors have been authorized to pursue “gun sellers that put firearms in the wrong hands” more vigorously.

White House officials also noted Biden’s proposed budget calls for an increase in funding for local law enforcement that would boost community policing. He is expected to urge Congress to pass a government funding bill with that money during his trip to New York on Thursday.
The efforts laid out on Thursday build on the ones Biden announced last June, when he detailed plans to cut down on crime, and on gun-related incidents in particular. The strategy included support for local law enforcement, the creation of DOJ task forces to address illegal firearm sales and expanding opportunities for employment and programming for at-risk communities.

When is he going to get it through his thick head, guns don’t kill people, people kill people. What’s he going to try to ban next kitchen knives, they can kill people to, no wait, let’s ban hammers they can kill people to.
You might or might not have been unable to buy a cannot when the amendment was passed but you certainly could buy a machine gun. You can’t do that today without spending a lot of money and getting a special permit.
We still have the second amendment and until then the people still have the right to bare arms and protect them selves. Try going after the criminal that will always have access to a guns. Know matter what the government does the criminals will always have access to getting a gun.
Thank God for the 2nd Amendment. We need it now more than ever. There aren’t enough cops left to respond to 911 calls and the prosecutors aren’t holding the criminals anyway for “low level crimes” that are felonies. We’re at the mercy of criminals that now rule our streets and it’s pretty likely they have no mercy.
