Canik has recently announced the SFx Rival-S, a new steel-framed variant of the company’s SFx Rival 9mm pistol.
As handguns have trended towards polymer construction, concealed carriers have enjoyed the benefits of lighter pistols. When the same materials crept into the competition world, however, it left many wanting for more controllability. Canik is the latest company to address this issue and it’s done so by introducing the SFx Rival-S, a heavier, all-steel version of the original polymer SFx Rival 9mm pistol.
The steel-framed SFx Rival-S features a 5-inch barrel and has a total weight of 2.67 pounds, so recoil should be far less noticeable than when shooting the 1.84-pound polymer version. Competition shooters will also enjoy the flat-faced trigger that breaks at 90 degrees and the optics-ready slide.
Canik USA Marketing Director Adam Ruonala said this about the new pistol:

Like the original SFx, the SFx Rival-S also comes with a lot of extras in the box. Each pistol will ship with two 18-round magazines, three sizes of interchangeable backstraps and magazine release extensions, an external magwell, two aluminum magazine baseplates, a cleaning kit, a speed loader and a tool kit with a punch. Additionally, the guns will include a fiber optic front sight and five different optics plates to accommodate nearly any pistol red dot on the market. It all ships in a water-resistant hard case, and the package will be available from Canik later this month.
MSRP for the black SFx Rival-S is $899.99, and $949.99 for the chrome version.
