Per an announcement made by the organization today, Jason Ouimet plans to leave his role at the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Ouimet has served as head of the NRA’s Institute of Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) since 2019, when he took over the role from the NRA’s former top lobbyist Chris Cox.
Below is the full statement from the NRA on the move:
“Jason Ouimet is leaving NRA-ILA to pursue other opportunities. We would like to thank Jason for his service to the NRA and on behalf of our freedom. We wish Jason all the best with his new endeavors, and know he will continue to be a strong advocate for the Second Amendment. We expect to make an announcement soon regarding an interim director of ILA. In the meantime, there will be no change to the advocacy or programs taking place within ILA. I will work with the organization’s leadership team to ensure the continued advancement of our mission in the political and grassroots arenas. –NRA EVP & CEO Wayne LaPierre”

The NRA is set to host its annual meeting in Indianapolis, IN between April 14th – 16th. The organization also held its annual Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, PA earlier this month, and touted the success of the event earlier this week, boasting attendance records that were 21% higher than the previous year.
