The Senate’s oldest sitting member is dealing with a “health matter” according to her office.
Dianne Feinstein, 89, has been absent from Capitol Hill this week according to The Daily Wire.
Sen. Feinstein isn’t the only lawmaker struggling with their health…
Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman recently checked himself into Walter Reed Medical Hospital to address symptoms of severe depression. (RELATED: Sen. John Fetterman Checks Himself Into Hospital)
“While John has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks,” Adam Jentleson, his chief of staff, said in a statement. He said that after undergoing an evaluation on Monday by Dr. Brian P. Monahan, the attending physician in Congress, Mr. Fetterman followed the recommendation for inpatient care at Walter Reed.
“John agreed, and he is receiving treatment on a voluntary basis,” Mr. Jentleson said.
When the news of Sen. Fetterman’s hospitalization broke his wife and children reportedly fled the country. (RELATED: Fetterman’s Wife Leaves for Canada as Senator Undergoes Inpatient Treatment for Depression)
I am not really sure how to navigate this journey but am figuring it out slowly. 1 week ago today when the news dropped, the kids were off from school and media trucks circled our home. I did the first thing I could think of … pack them in the car and drive.

We drove straight into … Canada (and lovely Buffalo NY) (Pro Tip: always have passports ready just in case you have to run away 😅) We talked about lots of hard things and how we will all have to face hard things. About the need to be gentle … with all and with ourselves. pic.twitter.com/0PWQXHrbqT

“The senator is in California this week dealing with a health matter,” a spokesperson for Feinstein told reporters.
“She hopes to return to Washington soon,” the representative added.
No further details were immediately divulged.
Feinstein, who has been a member of the upper chamber since 1994, announced last month she would not seek re-election in 2024.
Three prominent House Democrats — Reps. Adam Schiff, Katie Porter, and Barbara Lee — have already announced campaigns to replace Feinstein in the Senate in what is expected to be a competitive race.
