Six House Republicans broke with GOP leadership on Wednesday, joining Democrats to advance legislation that would provide billions of dollars in additional support to Ukraine despite ongoing opposition from President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson.

The House voted 218-204 in favor of a discharge petition that forces consideration of the Ukraine Support Act, a measure that had remained stalled for more than a year after Republican leaders declined to bring it to the floor.

The vote marks one of the most significant bipartisan challenges to Republican leadership on foreign.

A self-defense gun use case involving a six-time NBA all-star has been resolved favorably.

Former Seattle Sonics star Shawn Kemp was released from custody after initially being arrested last week for discharging a firearm near the Tacoma Mall.

KIRO 7 reports:

“According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, no charges will be filed against the six-time all-star, KIRO-TV reported. That is pending further investigation by the Tacoma Police Department, according to the television station.

… He was booked into the Pierce County Jail on Wednesday after his arrest near the Tacoma Mall, KIRO reported…

Tacoma police said an altercation between occupants of two vehicles near the mall led to shots being fired, ESPN reported. There were no injuries reported and a gun was recovered.

Kemp’s attorney, Scott Boatman, said in a statement to ESPN on Thursday that Kemp’s car was broken into and numerous items, including an iPhone, were stolen. He added that Kemp fired his weapon in self-defense.

Boatman said that Kemp tracked his phone to an occupied vehicle and was shot at when he approached it, ESPN reported.”

Despite the lack of a “stand your ground law” in Washington State, even Mike Bloomberg funded anti-second amendment advocacy group Giffords states “the state supreme court has held that there is no duty to retreat before using force in public.”

I’m glad but really shocked that this decision was made in Tacoma. I would’ve expected 99 years for defending oneself from trash.

no surprise considering his celebrity status and reported anti-gun group “Gifford” backing his “self defense” “stand your ground.” anti-gun groups that would demand charges on a law abiding gun owner for merely a few stolen items. an anti-gun group that normally protect criminals more than law abiding gun owners.

celebrity status that would not be granted the average gun owner in self defense.

Can it be true that there is hope for commonsense in the Communist state of Washington?

    Leftshot

Okay. So, what happened to the bad guys? Because if everything stated is true these guys committed armed robbery and attempted murder.
