Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.
According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.
The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

THE DAY AT A GLANCE:
Religious freedom and gay rights will face the Supreme Court this fall.
At the center of the case is a female web designer who asserts that creating wedding websites for homosexual couples goes against her religious beliefs. The case mirrors Jack Phillips’ 2018 Supreme Court win, wherein he argued he reserved the right to refuse to bake wedding cakes for same-sex couples.
In a court filing, the designer, Lorie Smith’s business is described as seeking to “promote her understanding of marriage as between one man and one woman, and she would like to post an online statement explaining she can only speak messages that are consistent with her religious convictions.”
However, Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act bans such statements and prohibits her from refusing service.
🚨 🚨 The Supreme Court will hear Lorie Smith’s free speech case!
Colorado has weaponized its law to force Lorie, an artist who owns 303 Creative, to either say things she doesn’t believe or to remain silent.

Reporting by the New York Times suggests the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is withholding certain Covid-19 data.
Only a “tiny fraction” has been released, according to insiders.
Kristen Nordlund, a spokeswoman for the C.D.C., said the agency has been slow to release the different streams of data ‘because basically, at the end of the day, it’s not yet ready for prime time.’ She said the agency’s ‘priority when gathering any data is to ensure that it’s accurate and actionable.’ Another reason is fear that the information might be misinterpreted, Ms. Nordlund said, ‘The performance of vaccines and boosters, particularly in younger adults, is among the most glaring omissions in data the C.D.C. has made public.’
Despite refusing to publish vital data, the CDC continues to masquerade as a fourth branch of government. Since March of 2020, the organization has proven to be unreliable as its recommendations continuously shift.
First, masks with masks and now with vaccines. In August of 2021, the CDC reported that “Vaccination Offers Higher Protection than Previous COVID-19 Infection.” However, in January of 2022, the CDC admitted that natural immunity provides greater protection than vaccination alone.
The CDC’s reversal came after its previous discounting of natural immunity caused mass layoffs, nursing home resident isolation, and hospital staffing shortages. It must not be forgotten or overlooked, and the CDC must be held accountable.
