An Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agent claims lies and politics have corrupted the federal government’s criminal investigation into Hunter Biden.
On Wednesday, IRS agent Mark Lytle’s attorney sent letters to Republican and Democrat leaders in Congress detailing the allegations against the agency currently investigating the President’s son.
According to The Daily Wire, the letter does not directly name Hunter, and only says the agent is overseeing the “ongoing and sensitive investigation of a high-profile, controversial subject.” However, sources separately confirmed to The Wall Street Journal the investigation into Hunter Biden is the focus of the matter.
The letter identifies the client as an “IRS criminal supervisory special agent” who has already made “legally protected disclosures internally at the IRS, through counsel to the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, and to the Department of Justice, Office of Inspector General.” Now this IRS agent wants to make protected whistleblower disclosures to Congress despite “serious risks of retaliation,” the letter says.
Disclosures made to the government watchdogs “contradict sworn testimony to Congress by a senior political appointee,” “involve failure to mitigate clear conflicts of interest in the ultimate disposition of the case,” and “detail examples of preferential treatment and politics improperly infecting decisions and protocols that would normally be followed by career law enforcement professionals in similar circumstances if the subject were not politically connected,” according to the letter.
The letter adds: “Some of the protected disclosures contain information that is restricted by statute from unauthorized disclosure to protect taxpayer and tax return information.”
Hunter Biden is under federal investigation for his foreign business dealings, tax affairs, and more.
The White House on Thursday dismissed allegations from the whistleblower.
“Since he took office and consistent with his campaign promise that he would restore the independence of the Justice Department when it comes to decision-making in criminal investigations, President Biden has made clear that this matter would be handled independently by the Justice Department, under the leadership of a U.S. Attorney appointed by former President Trump, free from any political interference by the White House,” White House spokesman Ian Sams told Fox News Digital on Thursday.
“He has upheld that commitment,” he added.

Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) initially requested information about the Biden family and their associates’ business transactions flagged by U.S. banks in January.
Under federal law, when banks suspect suspicious overseas activity by an account holder, it submits a “suspicious activity report” or “SAR” to the Treasury Department.
However, the Department’s delay in responding to the requests triggered an investigation into the matter and prompted Comer to hold a March 10 hearing to examine the Treasury Department’s sudden refusal.
