Texas Governor Greg Abbott is expected to pardon an Army veteran who was convicted earlier this month of murdering a Black Lives Matter protestor during a riot that took place in July 2020.
Daniel Perry is set to be pardoned by Abbott after he was convicted of “one count of murder … after the deadly shooting of Garrett Foster in the streets of downtown Austin on July 25, 2020,” per KVUE.
Bert Eyler with the National Center for Police Defense exclusively told American Liberty News that “the prosecution of Sgt. Perry by a Soros-funded district attorney was a chilling blow to our most sacred rights. That the decision to charge Perry coincided with the dismissal of all charges against the BLM rioters reveals George Soros’ uncompromising vision for the United States should his overhaul of the judicial system succeed.”
The right to self-defense outside the home was upheld last year in the monumental Supreme Court case of NYSRPA v. Bruen when the nation’s highest court decided the following:
“Nothing in the Second Amendment’s text draws a home/public distinction with respect to the right to keep and bear arms, and the definition of “bear” naturally encompasses public carry. Moreover, the Second Amendment guarantees an “individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation,” id., at 592, and confrontation can surely take place outside the home.”
Governor Abbott has promised to pardon Perry.
Upon hearing of Abbott’s intent to pardon Perry, Eyler also told American Liberty News the following:
“The National Center for Police Defense is delighted Gov. Abbott is working as swiftly as the law allows to pardon Sgt. Perry. But there’s more work to do. NCPD won’t stop until the rights of individuals seeking to defend themselves lawfully are protected in every jurisdiction across our great nation.”

He absolutely must be pardoned. It was an outrageous, evil verdict!
This case should have never went to trial. Sgt. Perry was simply defending himself. Someone comes at you with a rifle and you don’t protect yourself, you die. If the guy with the gun had been unarmed and approaching Sgt. Perry I might have agreed with the jury but that was not the case.
Great job, Governor Abbott. Keep it up.
