The U.S. military is tracking a new balloon that invaded U.S. airspace over Hawaii. It’s unclear who the balloon belongs to or what its purpose is.
U.S. officials claim the ballon doesn’t pose a national security threat.
As NBC News reports:
The object flew across portions of Hawaii but did not go over any sensitive areas, the officials said.
The U.S. military has been tracking it since late last week and has determined that it poses no threat to aerial traffic or national security and is not communicating signals, one official said.
It’s not clear if it’s a weather balloon or something else, the official said, adding that the U.S. could still shoot it down if it nears land.
The object, which does not appear to have maneuverability, is moving slowly toward Mexico, the officials said.

How can authorities know it poses no threat? They don’t even know what it is or what it may be carrying.
The “poses no threat” line is getting old. Shoot it down and examine the technology if anything is left.
“It’s not clear, but it poses no risk?” Has this guy never heard of the Trojan Horse?
Perhaps our military experts haven’t gotten close enough to read the warning label on the balloon, that our enemies are expected to attach, (in English) to help us identify the object? Nonetheless, I am sure our current leaders in Washington are working hard to determine how to tax the object, and where to send the tax bill.

Even the small hobbyist (weather) tracked balloons have a small transponder to help the hobbyists track where the weather takes them. Regardless, missiles aren’t needed to deflate them if they must be brought down, just a bullet hole or two will deflate them relatively slowly, so they can be found relatively intact upon grounding or floating in the water.
