Legendary NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown is dead.
The only running back in NFL history to average over 100 yards per game, Brown remains a household name more than 50 years after his retirement.
He joined the Cleveland Browns in 1957 after a multi-sport career at Syracuse University, where he excelled in football, basketball, track and lacrosse.
In later years, Brown made his presence felt as a social activist and actor.
Brown’s family revealed news of his passing to the world. His cause of death has not been announced.
Jim Brown, an all-time great running back as well as an actor and social activist, has died at the age of 87, his family announced on Friday.
