Former President Donald Trump is asking the Supreme Court to intercede in his growing legal matters.
Trump’s request comes after being indicted a third time this year. Earlier this week, special counsel Jack Smith indicted Trump on charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
Trump, in a post on Truth Social early Friday, called on the Supreme Court to intervene. Trump also said the multiple cases against him will require “massive amounts” of time and money and force him to use resources on court battles that could have been used for advertisements and rallies.
“CRAZY! My political opponent has hit me with a barrage of weak lawsuits, including D.A., A.G., and others, which require massive amounts of my time & money to adjudicate. Resources that would have gone into Ads and Rallies, will now have to be spent fighting these Radical Left Thugs in numerous courts throughout the Country.” Trump wrote. “I am leading in all Polls, including against Crooked Joe, but this is not a level playing field. It is Election Interference, & the Supreme Court must intercede. MAGA!”

The former President has been charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempting to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges and maintained that he is being prosecuted for political purposes because of his position as the front-runner for the Republican nomination for president in 2024.
The former President is also facing a potential fourth indictment stemming from Georgia Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis‘ investigation into Trump’s efforts to overturn the state’s election results. “The work is accomplished,” Willis told local news station 11Alive [last] Saturday. “We’ve been working for 2 1/2 years. We’re ready to go.”
“Some people may not be happy with the decisions that I’m making, and sometimes, when people are unhappy, they act in a way that could create harm,” Willis added.
Willis also said she is committed to announcing charging decisions by September 1.

Former President Trump will be tied up due to his legal problems and unable to campaign as a candidate in the 2024 election. He will be busy with court matters and unable to help GOP candidates running for state and federal offices. In a normal big election year, the presidential candidate leads and helps his party’s candidates.
Trump should admit he won’t be a viable candidate and cancel his run for 2024. He should also move the pile of campaign money he has to the national and state GOP so they can get back the Senate and get victories in governor and House elections.
By stepping down he also may get a better plea deal or some charges dismissed as most of this legal stuff is being done to get him out of politics. A should sing “Happy Trails” and ride off into the sunset.
