Democrats are in something of a funk about Joe Biden.
For an incumbent seeking reelection, his polling numbers against the extremely problematic Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. aren’t exactly robust. Almost half think he’s too old for a second term. And his signature campaign issue – touting the benefits of “Bidenomics” – has landed with a sickening thud.
So, surely, this means that rather than going done in history as the biggest big government success story since Franklin Roosevelt, Biden’s more likely to go the one-and-done route of Jimmy Carter, right?
Maybe. The political road ahead is very long and there are innumerable obstacles along the way – any one of which could sink Biden.
What might they be? Setting aside the flop that Bidenomics appears to be, professional Democrats say they are worried about the third-party challengers who may siphon votes away from Biden.
While this exposes the conceit that certain votes belong to a major party candidate, who, exactly, are we talking about in the third party that would pose such a mortal risk to Biden?
According to Politico, Team Biden has their worries fixed on a hypothetical candidate, and an Ivy League professor:
Cornel West, a prominent academic and civil rights leader with ties to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), has already launched a bid on the Green Party ticket. As Biden looks to fend off that threat on his left, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) has flirted with a presidential run with the group No Labels that Democrats fear could deprive Biden of moderate votes.
Right. While we’ll wait and see whether West is able to mount a serious nationwide effort – never mind get on the ballot in enough states to make a difference – and if No Labels can live up to even a fraction of the hype surrounding it, there’s an obvious solution to all this. It’s in the quoted text above.
There’s a worry about “moderate voters.” Rather than worry that a third party candidate might “deprive” Biden of such votes and go through the exhausting, costly, and often underhanded effort major party candidates use to throttle third parties…Mr. Biden could simply appeal to those moderate voters.
You know, by being moderate. That may appear like a radical idea to Team Biden and Democrats in general, but it has any number of advantages.
It meets voters where they are. Most of them aren’t culture warriors on the left or right. They aren’t eco-apocalypse types who think gas stoves are evil. And they may respect Second Amendment rights but are concerned about gun violence. And they really, really want their kids to know how to read, write and solve math problems….not suffer through struggle sessions about colonialism or patriarchy.
And so on. In other words, the broad middle of American politics – the one that decides elections and really doesn’t care about the intricacies of Team Red or Team Blue orthodoxy, needs a candidate it can get behind in 2024.
They don’t have one. And a key tell they aren’t thrilled with Joe, Don, or nay of the others running right now? The fundraising numbers:
Small-dollar donors were harder to find. And that’s not only a significant development in the primary, but a warning sign for Republicans looking ahead to the general election, too. Biden may have some difficulty fundraising on his own, but he also appears to be a mediocre fundraising driver for conservatives.
And lest we think Mr. Biden is tearing up the charts…he’s not:
The lack of grassroots engagement is a warning sign for Biden ahead of a tough election cycle, raising questions about whether the 80-year-old incumbent is exciting the Democratic base the way he will need to win a second term. The new data also suggests that the threat of Donald Trump, once a huge driver of Democratic fundraising, is not motivating donors like it used to.
People are voting with their wallets. And the early returns show Biden and the GOP are coming up short.

The Dem’s donations are way down because of the utter corruption and God-awful destruction they’ve been inflicting on this country in just a few short years.
The Repub’s donations are way down because of the feckless, no-account job they’ve been doing in curtailing the Dem’s corruption and destruction.
And one guy doesn’t need any campaign donations, because the Dem’s and the Repub’s are doing a bang-up job of providing him with all the votes he needs.
I’m voting for that guy in 2024. And so are the rest of the decent, patriotic, and fed-up citizens in this country.
There is nothing “equal” about both parties. The Democrats have the MSM egging them on and continuing to LIE about Trump and the Republicans, while the Republicans do not have anyone making sense except the primetime FNC news hosts, who nobody seems to be paying any attention to. Until we get more Republican politicians with coherent voices we are doomed. It is despicable that there are any RINOs at all, because, as one conservative attorney is saying, no matter how much you may dislike Trump’s personality, the country was doing better than it ever has in the previous 50+ years while Trump was in the White House. He needs to be there again.
